I think I over or under watered and murdered most of my seedlings. (I usually start with rooted clones) Going to try this schedule now with new beans and want to make sure it seems fine with you guys before I do it. I know this is more art than science but does this look like we're in the right ballpark here?

If anyone has a sure fire method that has worked over time please let me know!

STAGE 1: JUST SPROUTED (Days 1–5)
Water
~50–100 ml (a few tablespoons)

  • Small ring around stem (not soaking whole pot)
  • Every 2–3 days (not daily unless super dry)
Soil should be:

Slightly moist NOT wet or heavy

Light

18–20 hours/day
LED: 24–30 inches away, low intensity (25–40%)

Too much light = stress
Too little = stretching

STAGE 2: EARLY SEEDLING (Days 5–14)

Water

75–150 ml per watering

  • Still watering in a ring, expanding outward
  • Every 2–4 days
Let top 1 inch dry before watering again

Light

Same schedule (18/6 or 20/4)
Slightly closer light if they stretch

STAGE 3: ESTABLISHED SEEDLING (Weeks 2–3)

Now roots are forming.

Water

150–300 ml

Wider circle, approaching full pot gradually
Every 2–3 days
OR

Day 8 → ~750 ml every few days
Day 14 → ~1 liter

(Adjust based on pot size)

Light

Increase intensity slightly
Still not blasting them (PPFD ~200–400)

STAGE 4: ROOTED / CLONE-LIKE (Week 3+)

Now they can actually drink.

Water

Full watering (until slight runoff)

Then WAIT until pot gets light

Usually every 2–4 days

Light

Full veg lighting now
Lower light distance gradually
