Setting Up Ac With Exhaust Fan

How do you guys run your AC and exhaust fans together? I'm wanting to run them as efficient as possible.

I could see running the AC in a way that you don't even need to run the exhaust fan but that would be bad right. The point of having an exhaust fan is just as much as moving in fresh air as it is cooling down your room.

I'm really kind of confused on the best way to run them together. I'm sure it's a he'll of a lot easier than I'm making it out to be.

Any help is appreciated!

there are a number of ways to do this but most people I know seal their rooms. First off, what kind of AC unit is it? I wouldn't use an old window banger type but you can make it work. I think your probably asking this because you don't want to exhaust out expensive cold air.

I use the IdealAir type and it has one duct going in for fresh air and one duct going out for heated air. It doesn't mix the room air with the cooling air as near as I can tell. I don't exhaust air but slightly pressurize the room (fan blowing in through a filter to keep out bugs etc.) and I just let the room pressure leak out through varoious places cause a truely sealed room is about impossible anyway. I do waste a little energy this way but I get low humidity air in (I draw fresh air to pressurized form inside the house). My exhaust from the Ideal Air goes out the roof of the garage through a roof vent.

I guess the choices as far as AC would be: An outside central air type unit (expensive but the most efficient), a Mini split (nice efficiency still fairly spendy), Ideal Air type portable, or an old window banger.

So when you add C02 are you using a very tightly sealed room? How do you control humidity without any fresh air? are you using a large capacity dehumidifier?

Fwiw, my ac removes just as much moisture from the air as my dehumidifier.

And, mini splits r actually more expensive than central ac units

I have a portable sharp a.c. with a single exhaust. Just had it sitting around. I wasn't planning on this grow needing an ad but I wasted a month with my second attempt.

I was thinking about running a.c. for temp control and then having the exhaust on a timer for strictly sir circulation. If that would work might anyone know that math to figure it out? I've got a 50sqft room with a 740cfm fan.

If I run the exhaust 24/7 lights on it will keep it at 75 degrees but then I'm running into issues with humidifying the room.

My room already costs to much so I'm just trying to make it as inexpensive as possible and not waste money.

Yep, right now it's at 68 but keeping room at 72

How hot is it running outside? Do you grow indoors year round or outside during the Summer? If your AC can keep up it should help dehumidify to a certain extent.

Until I get something better I'm having the 740cfm fan run every 3hrs for 30 min or until it gets to 68 degrees. It's the best I can do until I find the remote for the AC. Either this or run the exhaust fan 24/7 during lights on.

I'll be looking into some of the options mentioned here thougg for surw.

I have one of those I used for an old aero cloner..It malfunctioned more than once and sounded a beep (in the middle of the night)..wtf..it killed the clones so I went back to a simple propagation tray/dome/heatpad. It has been relegated to regular timer duty in a non critical role..

Good to know.
So far I use them for non-critical recirc/feed pumps, and oscillating fan.
Bought an extra, for backup.
Any critical function deserves a high quality relay/hardware.
