Just a question regarding watering. Should I be watering to run off I’m using plant magic soil which is organic. I’ve just re planted into 3 gallon pots and was previously not watering to run off and the plants look ok. I normally wait till the soil is almost dry then water every two days. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx

Generally if you're growing organic you don't want to flush. You'd be washing out the nutrients in the soil. Keep the good stuff in the soil

I've gone organic this grow and it took me a bit to get used to watering and not seeing run off.

With organic soil you don't want enough runoff to where it washes away nutrients. But a teeny tiny bit is ok to make sure the soil is completely saturated.

Everything I've read has said not to water till runoff when relying on your medium for the nutrients.

Big help guys thanx a lot I will upload some pics I just got home and my plants looked dead cos they was under watered I re planted them in bigger pots and watered and they look fine within in a couple of hours

I think it's just extremely difficult to saturate all of the soil without getting a little run off - especially with fabric pots... Most of the time this minimal run-off is re-absorbed within a few minutes.... I definitely made the mistake of not saturating the soil properly on my past grow - it was pretty obvious when emptying the pots and examining the root ball

Whether fabric or plastic, I water slowly, in a circular, outward radiating stream, using 16 oz. condiment squeeze bottles, letting the medium absorb to the point of a few drops runoff. I use a nice light, fluffy, well draining mix and in 5 gal. pots rarely need more than 4 bottles to thoroughly moisten to the very slight runoff. Ice cubes are great for nice slow even saturation as well and they conveniently come in 16 oz.. trays. Elevate pots and provide air circulation. This works for my organic soil auto grows.
