hey guys i was wondering if you think i should keep these plants, they’re nirvana ak48 feminized. i planned on using them for mother plants. my problems first started a couple days after i transplanted when i realized i was overwatering them and it took me like a week to stop overwatering lol and the humidity was getting low like 20-40% and the temps kept bouncing from high 60s to low 80s so i got a humidifier and a thermostatically controlled fan switch and raised my lights so now my environment and watering problems are solved but when everything was going on one of the plants leaf tips started pointing up and turning white/yellow and drying out and getting crumbly. fast forward to today and the leaf is like totally dead and the other leaf is still drooping but the new set of leaves that grew are perky as hell and look healthy, the only thing I’ve noticed is on each new set of leaves theres like a brownish/purplish color on the new leaf growth but it goes away before the leaf gets big, anyone know what this is? cotyledons are almost fully yellow now too. the growth rate has been slow though (even though i just fixed my problems like 4 days ago) i put the seed in a rapid rooter to germinate on dec 23rd and transplanted december 30th and put them under 400w hps (i know i put them under way too strong of a light, lesson learned) i haven’t fed them yet either but i been adding 35% h2o2 (hoping i don’t have root rot) and my tap water is like 100-150ppm. should i keep them? i feel like they might still have a chance but if you think i might have ruined their chance to be healthy moms please let me know

It LOOKS to me like they were fucked like u said and now theyr coming around to grow ok.they do look really yellow though.whats your ph?how often are you watering
But listen.seeds are cheap.time and effort is more important.if this is your first grow start again with new beans and grow in soil as your obviously struggling in hydroton.soil is WAYYY more forgiving.
if you worked out whats wrong with your plants now(i think they need ph,d and fed) then u could maybe bring em round but theyr nirvana fems so the could all herm from the stress theyv received once they grow up.
if it were me id be getting new BETTER beans and start again.

the new leaves are a nice (id say healthy) looking green. but yes flood and drain every 6 hours for 7min (takes 7min to drain back) I have a 22gal res i added 15ml of h202 and ph is on point and i think i have everything dialed in now except i haven't fed them you... i have more seeds (have 2 NL by sensi that i just sprouted ) id just rather keep the ak if i can. heres more pics, these are the best i could get right now since I'm taking the pic with my mac book but you think id be better off just tossing them? id really be heartbroken if i got them all big and shit and they hermie on me lol but to be honest I'm way too deep and invested to switch to soil thats really not even an option for me at this point

Yeah those seem to becoming around.set your ph to around 5.5 ish maybe a point or 2 lower at 5.2 and start feeding em small amounts.
I'm hoping so, I'm about to throw a bit of maxigro in the res right now... but now you got me thinking about how they might hermie from all the stress I've put them through and i was going to put the northern lights i have in the same res/tray in a couple weeks(even though theyre 2 weeks younger) and even though that isn't really advised but I'm more afraid if the ak has any type of disease or nasty bacteria in the hydroton that could pass to the nothernlights too and contaminate it, any thoughts or opinions on that?

To be perfectly frank with you i dont know a great deal about hydro.iv been running mostly organic soil for the past 12 years but personally i wouldnt put different aged plants in the same hydro setup as there would be plants needing fed(the ak) and the nl seedlings wont.what you could do is just keep the nl in a plant pot of hydroton and just water by hand until they catch up with the ak.desease wise u should be ok but if you are going to scrap the ak its best to do it now while its still early days.the beans can be replaced for a couple of bucks.
are u in the US?

well i just took them out of the hydroton so I'm sure that probably set me back another week from shock lol but really my biggest scare is the disease thing because i already have brown algae in my water and i just changed the res on friday and the water pump filter was filled with algae. i think I'm going to wait till its time to put the NL in the flood tray before i decide to scrap the AK because for all i know they might be perfectly fine and healthy in the next 2 weeks ya know? and yeah thats true i just really wanted some ak48 lol but yes sir near boston. i wish it was spring/summer cause id just throw them out side. do the roots look decent from what you can see?

Your roots look fine, nice and white. Personally I would see if it comes out of it, it kills me to toss plants. The plus side though is nirvana seeds are cheap so no bigs either way. High five on wearing gloves. Cleanliness next to godliness when growing in hydro particularly. With your sickly plant pulled out already....you could probably transplant into soil pretty easy if you have some around.

yeah I just sprouted some sensi northern lights and i want to try and put both strains on the same res/tray but I'm just afraid the ak will spread some sort of bacteria or disease to the northern lights if i tried that so once the NL is read for the flood tray i guess ill see if the AK is worth keeping and they're cheap but it just sucks i only have 1 ak seed left and its like a baby immature one lol but yeah definitely need to use gloves, esp touching roots idk how people don't use gloves lol i know I'm just too invested into hydro right now, if it wasn't winter id just throw them outside and let them grow

I've never ran flood and drain. I have ran drip systems and dwc. But I would ditch the h202 and get a good tea and use that to fight the root rot. IF you don'twant to toss them. Second I would think you would see def in your older plants if you put plants weeks apart in same tray.
If you have different trays and res I say run them girls and keep an eye out for hermies, I like ak my self.

do you think the tea could help with algae (i think brown algae) i totally clean/disinfect my res and table and its back to cloudy within 4 or 5 days. i cleaned/sterilized my res and table and hoses on friday and the res is already foggy as hell but yeah honestly i think i might toss them then because i only have 1 tray/res. i would just throw them in dwc buckets but i have nowhere to put them and its like 32degrees outside so that isn't an option either. the only thing that makes me think they'd be okay as far as nutes go is because the AKs are already like a week or 2 behind from transplant and overwater shock and i just shocked them again to take them out of the hydroton to take pics of the roots. I'm more afraid of the AK passing bacteria or disease to the Northern lights plants. not only that, i don't think ill ever be able to stop my algae problem with these plants because theres probably algae stuck in thier pots

I most definitely believe in tea weather you buy it or brew it. I had the rit a few months back cleared it up. Ine of my problems wad my air stone crapped out.Two eerks of tea and it was gone. Then I run it at 2ml/gal. Stay away from organic addaddictived. I use h2o2 @ high concentration after a grow to sterilize everything. Usually a 24hr soak. And then wipe everything down with iso rag for hood meadure. I'd soak you pump in mild bleach solution then flush and dry it real good. X 2. Replace your lines. You could use organic bleach I myself like cheap dollar store bleach.

block the lights and the algae should die off, black plastic works well, and no no no to bleach or h2o2. sounds like your res is just fine, keep it 17 degrees C and out of the light. what's this talk about passing bacteria or disease? if you have root rot it's because the mircobes have broken past the "Casparian strip" it's the name of a cell wall on the roots. FYI beneficial bacteria is good for your plants, by bleaching it or h202ing it your killing off all the benes and mycorrhizal fungi, just use elbow grease to remove any residue on your res, and yes i would start over, if production is your main goal. damage to plants that early in there life cycle tends to follow them throughout their life span. IMHO

yo Happy b! i think for a noob a ph'd ready soilless medium would be good, that way he can't over water that easily. that's what i recommend to my closest homies that are new. what do you think bruh?

I use it at end of cycle before I store it until next use. I dud not mean with plants in system. I cycle threw buckets and rocks and change lines every new cycle.

yeah I'm probably going to trash the ak48 but I'm going to keep them and grow them out until i need to transplant my northern lights and i don't think its algae in the res i think its a bacteria bloom or some shit its hard to get a pic of it but it looks almost like old broken up toilet paper floating around in the res and when you take it out and examine it its like a a jelly/gelatin snot-like stuff that floats around and sticks to the air stone and water pump filter. its hard to get a pic of it. i couldn't even see my air stone 5 days after a total res/tray/hose cleaning/sterilization (although, i didn't clean my pump filter) so i cleaned and sterilized it all again today and added another stone but I'm doing a total sterile res, i don't want any bacteria, good or bad. I'm actually getting a UV water sterilizer as soon as i find a good one and doing soil of any kind is out of the question at this point, I'm too invested into hydro but ill post a couple pics of the res

yeah i actually have a small list of things that are going to be replaced every cycle just for convenience and cleanliness sake. esp since the stuff is under 50 bucks I'm not really worried about it but all pots, hoses, airstones, medium (hydroton and obv rapid rooter) and probably even totes (maybe every 2 cycles?) will be replaced just to keep everything right

what's your nutrient? a UV water sterilizer sounds like a super bad idea if you have a organic nutrient line. what's the temp of your res???

if you dislike the gunk, you can buy a 10 dollar filter and cycle your res with aquarium pump.

i use gh maxigro I'm doing nothing organic at all thats why i think uv would be perfect to just keep everything out because i don't want good or bad bacteria in my res. just my nutes and h2o2 but I've thought about those but wouldn't that filter some of the nutes? and wouldn't the stuff (algae, bacteria, etc) just flow right back in once the pump stops? aren't those for like continus running pumps?

interesting, well def keep posting, would like to see your results.

hmmm i used maxi for a few years, is your ph off? might explain the zinc def (first pic on thread) maybe not acidic enough. i personally only got two def from maxi, calmag which meant i wasn't flushing enough, or Zinc def being to alkaline. i remember flushing maxi at lease once a week, very salty nute.

Soooo you don't plan on using the GH mico additives? IMHO i would jsut change nutes bruh, i went AN and haven't looked back, actually threw my GH all in the trash.

i stopped using GH after reading article of them being bought out by monsanto but turns out changing nutes has been totally worth the extra bucks
