I have a predominant sativa plant I cut down recently. It was started late to begin with & also being mostly sativa there wasn’t much on plant & the buds aren’t very big. Needless to say when I had hung it up it dried fast, maybe about 4 days. I trimmed & stuck in mason jars. After over 24 hrs. I opened jars but it wasnt very wet. I mean it has some moisture but not a lot. I tried leaving a little longer but even still there isnt a lot moisture. I read you should burp jars every 24 hrs.but I’m worried it’s too dry. Would it be ok if I waited 2-3 days to burp or is that risking mold or did plant dry to quick & im screwed. Any advice appreciated guys!

i usually dry my weed for 10 days, then directly into jars, opening the jars once a day 5-10 min for two weeks, then 5-10 min once or twice a week

You want the %RH in the jar to be between about 58-65%, otherwise it will not cure.

There is some point of RH where raising the %RH won't help. There are bacteria, that live or used to live on the plant, that cause the curing process. If they get too dry, they die and you're not going to have a cured product.

Have you ever heard of grove bags?! My first time growing but I’m going to definitely look into these ! Basically set it and forget it

I have a one of those little RH meters for jars but they need batteries so I’ve been doing by touch. I’ll search house for batteries & throw one in.

If you have another plant going, take a fresh leaf off and put it in the jar. If the moisture content hasn't dropped below the point of no return, it will start up the curing process again.

I'm battling dry/cure right now. My POS china crap wood meter failed so my two plants I had drying got to dry. I switched to Grove Bags a while back and they seem to work as claimed and the jars have since went into storage. But I can't find any meters that will read temp and rh correctly to save my ass and have given up on the idea of ever finding such a device again as long as china is still alive and ruining every thing they touch. So I honestly have no real idea what's going on in the Grove Bags or jars if I put them back into service. So it looks like I'm back to drying until a medium size stem gets a slightly crunchy sound when bent over between the fingers and toss a moister pack in the bag or jar. yeah,,, I may even bring the jars back out of retirement. God I hate china and every sob that supports that shit hole country....

Good call,never even considered that!

I don't use fan leaves or such and haven't for years to introduce RH back to dried bud because it almost always reintroduces the green weed smell to my bud I just got dried out and got rid of. I use new small makeup sponges, cotton makeup/face cleaning pads in small nylon bags. I rinse them out in distilled water and wring them out with my fingers. Thank you for the rescue wife. I don't have any moisture packs right now so this will hopefully save the cure. I'm ordering moisture packs now....

I have one china POS Govee meter thats close to accurate of the four I bought. So I hope this salvages the cure. Fucking china junk.

How’s that working out? Did remoisten bud good?

I’m not sure what I’m doing with mine. I might let go 3 days before burping & risk mold. Some of the stems are still bendy but it doesn’t seem like it’s remoistening by drawing water from bud center yet.

It's working good. The POS Govee china meter was reading 44% RH in the bag after 24 hours. Now it's reading 56% RH. Will wait another 24 hours. If it's still low I will add a few drops of distilled water to the cotton pad and see where it settles.
