Has anyone tried to take powdered Silicic acid and make it into a bioavailabile form of mono Silicic acid form plants. I ordered Silicic acid 100 mesh 25g for chromatography. Can this be converted into the bioavailabile for as in osa-28, aptus facilitator , or mills vitalize? OSA-28 is made at a concentration of 1% btw

Silicic acid can only be prepared in water in a fairly unstable solution. A stabilization agent of some type would need to be applied to prevent polymerization.

There are numerous proprietary ways to do this. You've got some hunting through patents to do, imo.

I take AgiSil 16H in powder/salt form and turn it into a solution with water and aeration. It's allegedly among the most soluble forms of silica.

@largebud the formula to create OSA is

AgSil 16H

Following the above recipe to make 1 Liter of 7.8% Liquid Solution you would mix 148 Grams of Agsil16H into 1 Liter of water. Then you can store it in a bottle or jar and shake well before using. I use an old bottle of ProTekt to mix and store mine. (1 Liter of water is about 34 Ounces).

---- I used an air stone to mix the solution for a while. And I shake extra long before each use. Not sure if it makes a difference but it's what I did

Here is a cool article: http://blog.nutri-tech.com.au/silica-the-hidden-cost-of-chemicals/

Here is another cool article: http://www.siliforce.com/pdf/7c/Snyder Mati Les effets du Silicium.pdf

Check out this analysis chart:

And this thread: https://www.thcfarmer.com/community...tilizer-sources-aafpco-approved-method.76318/

I don't mind sharing what I've found :) and I'm not sure what patent hunting has to do with any of it! But would be curious to know :)

Hope this helps!

Oof! Didn't read the original post completely :) I didn't see you already had ordered silica acid 100 mesh :) but the AgiSil is cheap if all you're looking to accomplish is soluble Si.

My issue is that the recipe you've listed is simply a potassium silicate solution and not OSA-28. Skunk labs sells another verision of this as well. Great if your looking for a less expensive form of potassium silicate. However that's not what I'm looking for. Potassium silicate takes much longer to break down and become bio availible to the plant. I am looking to make monosilicic acid. Or ortho Silicic acid. From what I understand this type of product is available to the plants at a much faster rate and it doesnt sit in the medium for as long as a period of time as simple potassium silica. I've used potassium silica and sodium silica. Both of those products require a month or more to become fully available to the plant therefore they tend to be wasted and simply stored in the soil. Also these products are much harder to flush out of you system. With osa your plants are actually using the silica at the time of application rather than a month or so later. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I've come to understand by researching the topic.

I believe this chart shows that AgSil has far more plant soluble silica available than OSA.

Here is a a lab report from this site:
https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/attachments/osa28-plantavailablesiliconanalysis-pdf.542393/

I pre mix the AgiSil16H powder with a liter of RO and bubble for a day or so and then store it in a non clear glass container. I shake it vigorously before use. The recipe makes a 7.8% solution ready to add to your reservoir or to your water for feeding.

This is from build a soil:

Agsil16H Potassium Silicate
In Stock & Ready For Shipping Right Now!

AGSIL16H is manufactured by PQ corporation and is one of the few silica products on the market that is water soluble. This simple powder will save money over buying water based Silica Bottle products. This is approved for organic use as a foliar spray and is an excellent oil emulsifier.

See the MSDS report here: AGSIL16H MSDS PDF

Compare to Pro-Tekt, Rhino Skin, Silica Blast and all other Silica Bottled products. There is no secret ingredient, all are made from potassium silicate.

Take it for what you will
