I'm a rookie and only have 2 grows under my belt (and a bunch of veggie grows), but just make your own soil, and keep the watering on schedule. 3-5 gal pots will get the job done.Im setting up for my next run. I want to try some autos next. I ordered some f1s from royalqueenseed.com. i was thinking about a 3gal pot and living soil concentrate with potting medium. Natures living autoflower is readily available and i have some cocoloco left from my current grow. Is that overkill for autos? Im looking to set up an effictive water only organic for autos. My grow nubie and hero pothead status both make me need to set up an efficent water only grow to be sucessful.
Id love to hear some thoughts and suggestions on a simple way to set this up for autos.
Thanks farmily.
Building a soil is currently out of the scope of my comfort level. There are many fine options available for purchase. Did you use build a soil? Ive read that you need a 15 gallon pot to have a large enough resivour of nutes to have a realistic water only grow.I'm a rookie and only have 2 grows under my belt (and a bunch of veggie grows), but just make your own soil, and keep the watering on schedule. 3-5 gal pots will get the job done.
BTW, I grew the Epsilon F1 from RQS for my first grow and they didn't do well. Two plants yielded .5 oz....I screwed up a bunch of things (mainly watering) so it's not a knock on them. I"m going to grow the two more epsilon f1 seeds this next grow and if it's the same result, I"ll know what's up.
In pic #1 Look at the two plants in the foreground. Those are the Epsilon F1 in 6.6 gallon pots.
Pic #2 - NL auto from RQS in 5 gallon
Good luck!
Im currently using the mediums i mentioned except im using the natures living concentrate. They also make one for autoflowers. I imagine its less nutrient dense? I was going to weigh any suggestions vs the forementioned combo.3gal pots are fine for autos. Did you ever combine those 2 mediums before? How rich are those 2 soils?
The NL auto turned out fine and it's on like day 15 of drying. I didn't have any issues with the plants other than me being away for a week so they got starved for water a little bit. But the yield was pretty good, smoke tastes smooth and gets the job done.Building a soil is currently out of the scope of my comfort level. There are many fine options available for purchase. Building a soil seems more advanced a practice for my 2nd grow. Other than adding a super soil concentrate. This will be my first try with autos so im all about setting myself up for sucess rather that struggle a double steep learning curve.
How did your NL auto turn out? Rqs Gave me 10 of those so that is my 3rd run.
I encountered a wise owl who has made me see a peat based potting soil over the coir will be more beneficial to microbial life.3gal pots are fine for autos. Did you ever combine those 2 mediums before? How rich are those 2 soils?
WHich build a soil? Like make my own? Or builasoil.com i looked into build a soil 3.0. I dont remember off the top of my head why i thought maybe it wasnt the best for the 3gallon auto grow im planning. I know there was a reason i just cant recall at the moment. Or if you mean making my own im just not prepared to have that steep of a learning curve on my first auto grow ever.I really think you should relook at the build a soil way. I believe it is the easiest most straight forward way and it ends up being pretty cost effective.
.com. The 3.0 recipe. Do two ten gallon pots and reuse the soil for a couple years.WHich build a soil? Like make my own? Or builasoil.com i looked into build a soil 3.0. Im not debating the effectivness of a product or making small of any suggestions.
Thats what it was. I cant do an entire run in a 3gal. Also this grow is going to determine the type of buckets i put on my rdwc system im going to occupy my tent with..com. The 3.0 recipe. Do two ten gallon pots and reuse the soil for a couple years.
You can do an entire run in 3 gals. But you will deplete the soil and you will have to replace it often. In a 11 gallon city picker pot I ran 5 cycles in there old take n bake recipe. Is there a reason you want to stay in 3 gallon pots?Thats what it was. I cant do an entire run in a 3gal. If i like growing untopped autos better than i do mainlined photos than im putting together a 9x 5 gallon bucket rdwc system and run autos all day.
Ive done the training of photos once now and i have reservations. Ill give autos in living soil a try before i make up my mind on the direction of my hydros.
Its weird because trying different styles of growing is a suggestion someone made on my welcome thread because i was so sure i knew what i was going to do based on shit i had read and assumptions i made. Ha. Now i see i need experience with watching how plants develope. So an auto grow it is. Then im trying hydros.
Because im doing trial runs, because im going to overload my tent with 9x 3gallon pots and not top just defoliate. I dont want to LST my next grow and i want to eliminate as much canopy as possible and let each plant do its thing naturally. If this grow is sucessful with a harvest large enough to get the wife and i through another round of autos then im growing autos. If this method of growing suits me better then hydro system im building will get smaller buckets (5 gallon). You can do an entire run in 3 gals. Also i thought i saw on the buildasoil they want you in a 15 for a water only.
Filling 9 15 or 10 gallons is too much.
I read that if i use a potting soil and living soil concentrate in a 3gallon. Im currently having good luck with natures living and was really hoping for similar brands that i cant find on my searches.
I must have looked at soils on google a 1000x before i jumped on here and read about biobizz. Why didnt that ever populate in my searches? So for that reason i put it out to the farm in hopes someone happened to have an easy supersoil suggestion.
Where you at? Is that feesible?I have the re open for the soil I made for my 160 gallon bed. If you want it?
