Should be ok,that stuff is used to hold up garage door tracks.the only thing with steel is the extra weight but that stuff being mostly holes should be just as light weight.

Trying to get by as cheap and neat/efficient as possible. This is what Ive come up with after a day of searching, I have a drill and can get a hacksaw. I was thinking of doing a 40" by 40" square with one cree 3590 in each corner and one in the middle. Please tell me what you think of my idea, 4 equal cut lengths of this with corners drilled bolted together in a square.

With pieces of this attached to the inside of the L angle box to attach the cobs to.

Actually scratch that, it says unavailable for delivery in my area...

That's steel. I think it'd be unnecessarily heavy. But I think it'd be sound.

First update of 2017? I dont fuckin know where my heads at lately...oh here it is brb :)
So i picked up some quantum boards from horticulture lighting group through northerngrowlights.com,these are the latest diy gadgets and of course i will be hittin em hard with some drivers i found in the meanwell pile lol.plus i think i will run some 2700k cobs on the corners with another driver.total system power should be somewhere around 640 watts and should crush it in a 5 x 5 but we shall see.

Chopped down a few kush after the new year and this biotch was under the 35w setups, nizzle :)

Ill def make an update once I get the boards mounted and wired, peazy

hi six,great job buddy.
that favorite of yours,is that the 35w per cob set up? If so that's amazing.makes sense to me though to be honest.people think you need a gazillion watts to grow good plants.but we're definitely finding out lately, that the opposite is maybe as good,if not better.especially with the heat ...big savings..so you say theres hardly any noticeable difference between the 50w ,and the 35w set up?...thats really cool.thanks six .cool set you got there mate. Keiks..

Just wait until next year after testing some UL approve lights that will have a 7 year warranty and IP66 rated they are not cobs but white SMD chips ran with Meanwell drivers 170lm/w. Oh yeah they are 500w but will get other wattage after my testing.

yeah so far the 35w per cob setups are my favorite.no real difference in the higher amp setups probably because i spaced the bars just a hair farther apart like 14 to 15 inches instead of 12 inches on the 35watters.but still those bars at 250w and 310w should be doing better than they are.i think the 35w is just the right power for my enviro maybe?

I think you got it right on ,for your environment bud.if I was building a room from scratch,I'd definitely go for 1050a,35 w....really cool.when I first read your thread,I honestly thought the 35w bars would be way under par, compared to the rest....great info mate...keep it up plz..

Im still learning the boards myself but if you run them @ 50w or less no heatsink is needed.heatsink and driver info here as well as the board specifics.

pages/engineering

These are kinda like what nextlight uses in their panels.only better :)

Quick update on life haha.still trying to juggle building my led lights and building out my building lol.both are moving at a snails pace, idk why i cant frame walls trench gas lines and locate my well line 6 feet down all at the same time like wtf.anyhow bout 3/4 done framing and gas line and meter upgrade are done.hopefully next week at this point I will be running lots of electric runs :)
Wallz ,ramset i bought is fun :)

Meter good to 600,000 btu now yay :)

Buddy had me build him 6 of the 4 cob panels even after I told him not interested unless he paid me 500 plus parts.he is happy and surprised how bright shit is now lol.

In the pic is northerns new 133mm heatsink on the right vs the old 120mm on the left,i think im gunna like the new ones^^^^^
Still aint done much with this big ass hybrid panel except drill all the fuckin holes for those quantum boards.woulda been a programming nightmare to do them on the plasma but not much better drilling by hand.

Just need to wire that bitch up and hang it...need....more....time.... :o
