Tomorrow is Full Moon.
One lone Bonus Wedding Cake from Attitude Seed Bank in organic soil tonight.

If anyone has read the Skunky Fruit x Blue Dream know that the lone female went for the Skunk part of the genetic makeup. She is not in flower yet but stem rub suggests...

The other is a boy. Has the Skunky Fruit Male horns. Now he is a lovely specimen.
He had strong scent. He has kept it strong throughout his veg.

I am a large pot organic soil grow guy so they get three or four months in soil to mature. Slo-Grow Organic soil.
I am not on a schedule so it's more about the weather then the calendar in my medical garden which is, as always, in legal compliance for the State of Illinois.

So, fingers crossed that the lone Wedding Cake Fem will germinate. If she does then she has a Wedding all planned with a "Lovely Day" boy. I decided to name the strain "Lovely Day." If the smoke report is like the experiment from 10 years ago then Lovely Day is the right name. If not I will change the name.

As for this grow I have a name in mind but I do name after a smoke report is in so I'll hold off on the name to see of there is a chance the name I like fits.

So watch this space. This is the last of my Garden until the Fall.

Good news:

The Wedding Cake Female sprouted and broke the surface some time yesterday and I see her out for first sun this morning.

Birthday 05152025

So this is a new company for me. I have ordered from Attitude before but it looks like:
Tag

So, I now will pick a clone or two. I may have had my sexing wrong. I'll know soon.
If they are both girls, which is possible, then I have one F1 that is very early in the "ready to flower." Nice Trait.
If the other is not a boy then she is a Sativa growth Dom girl and we should watch our Nitrogen to keep the offspring short, perhaps.

Updates on "Lovely Day" strain in that thread.

The idea here is that Skunky Fruit is a clear, up and long lasting effect. It has the best of the qualities of Greenhouse's "The Doctor" (First Run Genetics), Grandaddy Power Walker and now a remake of an experiment from a decade ago, crossing Skunky Fruit with Blue Dream. I named it "Lovely Day" after the song.
My previous experience was that Skunky Fruit was wonderful with enjoying Logic and Music. My experience with "Lovely Day" from a decade ago was of more feelings centrist. Watch Movies and have more empathy towards people. It is the feelings aspect that has me back to this remake. I, medically, can benefit from a boost in the caring about others department. I have that flaw.
So, what of "Wedding Cake x Lovely Day?" I will be generating a a grow report right here come winter. I am very curious as to what this cross will smell like.
Skunky Fruit has a complex scent trajectory but settles into "Mango in the Jar."
We know Blue Dream from some smoke reports suggesting something of a cream experience.
Now add Wedding Cake. That may well be something good indeed. I only know what I read. I do remember the talk around Cherry Pie and also around Girl Scout Cookies. I would be very pleased with a Gingerbread. That is a wild hope there but I will be wondering.

Don't know but it's happening!

Effect, Grow experience and the "In The Jar Report." Winter 2025~2026 but until then the parents take the stage.

Well, she is doing well.
She is out of the humidity dome and will transfer off the seedling pad space in a couple of days. Right now a warm soil is okay but soon the roots will be okay with final transplant.

So, here is a day three baby picture. Wedding Cake female by Blimburn with an Attitude Seedbank sticker on the bonus seed from my order through North Atlantic Seed Company. 100% Germination rate if I do say so myself!

Seedling Day Three

I will know if we will have a regular seed line or what I call a special event where we have just the Feminized Cross.
If the one Lovely Day I think is male, is female; then the next step beyond offers a choice. Either look for a Lovely-Day male or bring in the Kali Mist as daddy for a regular seed line.
Look I grow some for me and that is medicine and then i get a short period of time every year after where I can roll the dice. Take a chance. Blindly cross one with another and see what we get. This is the fun part.
On the Kali Mist as daddy: I also have never had Kali Mist so there is a mystery for me as well. Kali Mist has the highest reviews online and has been called the Queen of Sativas.
I thought enough of it without knowing for myself, to schedule a seed crop run of "Illinois Kali Mist" as a strain save for future people. So we shall see.
If all female then this effort will be a feminized cross this time just to see what this makes. That is how I found Lovely-Day in the first place.

If the one plant I am not sure about on sex yet is male then daddy will be a Sativa growth dom Lovely-Day.

We shall see. Ear-worm

More Baby Pictures... Wedding Cake looks like she likes a lot of lush growth. Good news for her, we have light and organic tonics!
Today she was drenched in a fresh Organic Tea (tonic) based on what my good guinea pigs produce.
It's safe to say, cannabis seems to grow like weeds when they get a good shot of tonic at the right time.
I swear she looks like she fluffed up a bit in just a few hours.

She looks to have good roots going and when I see a bit more stem she gets up-potted to final.

It's going to be a tent honeymoon for these guys and not in the big room which has HPS in there. HPS Great for single digit Winter Weather. Not so great in Summer.
Anyway..

Well I have an update.

I did say this girl like her foliage. That is because she is Polyploid!
First twin treu leaves

AI Overview
"Polyploidal" refers to having multiple complete sets of chromosomes, more than the two typically found in diploid organisms. This condition, called "polyploidy," arises from whole-genome duplication, which can occur during mitosis, meiosis, or from fertilization by multiple sperm. Polyploidy is common in plants, and also exists in some fish and amphibians.

Also :
Polyploidy is a heritable condition where an organism possesses more than two complete sets of chromosomes, meaning it has multiple copies of its entire genome. This is different from aneuploidy, where the chromosome number is not a multiple of the haploid number. Polyploidy is common in plants, and it can also occur in some animals.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Diploidy vs. Polyploidy:
Most eukaryotic organisms, like humans, are diploid, meaning they have two sets of chromosomes (one from each parent). Polyploids, on the other hand, have three or more complete sets of chromosomes.
  • Examples:
Examples of polyploidy include triploid (3 sets), tetraploid (4 sets), and pentaploid (5 sets) organisms.
  • Causes:
Polyploidy can arise from various mechanisms, including nondisjunction (failure of chromosomes to separate properly during cell division), or the fusion of unreduced gametes (gametes with the diploid chromosome number).
  • Plant Polyploidy:
Polyploidy is very common in plants, and it plays a significant role in plant evolution and speciation. Many crops, including potatoes, bananas, and wheat, are polyploids.
  • Advantages of Polyploidy:
Polyploidy can lead to increased size, vigor, and resistance to environmental stressors in plants. It can also lead to reproductive isolation and the formation of new species.

Well an update then:

It has been an odd start with the Wedding Cake seedling having some interesting growth characteristics.
So She, I understand, loves early nitrogen according to ChatGPT. She was in decent enough soil but is now in final size pot a three gallon. She may have been a little too wet in her seedling pot. So she is being fed more nitrogen as I see how she does.
I'll keep a watch on her.

So we are down to one Lovely Day clone. She was early to show desire to flower. She expressed lovely scent. She is Sativa growth style from her Blue Dream parent.
So the idea here is to grow out these plants and make feminized seed.

Once seed is available I sure could use some grow-feedback with a couple of folks willing to grow-show. If I can get the help I can move on to growing out the Illinois branch of Kali Mist Regulars.
So I really would love to know what the Lovely Day x Wedding Cake is like but I am limited to 5 plants at any one time so I have to do the work and I am thinking that I may want to cross some things with Kali Mist. "Lovely Day x Wedding Cake" might be one.

So here are our parents. Both are Female and I decided to make the Lovely Day the pollen donor.
