I started germination of three seeds 7 days ago. I managed to sprout one of them, one has not popped, and one is in an unusually slow germinating process. I spotted the root 3 days ago and this is what it looks like today. Is this normal or ever happened to you? Strain name is Dosi D.

I've had slightly immature seeds that took 7-9 days to sprout. Strain was dream cookies....

Just that tail. It should be inches long by now. Maybe I should just plant it to give it nutrients.

No, nutes will kill it. Can't tell what it's laying on..paper towel?
Honestly with seeds it could be any number of factors...too wet, too dry, too warm, who knows.
Don't feed it nutes!!! It'll die.
Since it sprouted, there's no harm in planting it...if it's a dud or a runt, it won't take long to find out.

better than tap root not popping out at all.

pop that germinated seed into growing medium, another couple of days before sprouting out of that medium.

not old seeds?

Maybe you should repeat it with 2 more seeds.

The seeds are not old. Maybe 2 or 3 yrs old. They are the only seeds I have. All found in dispensary weed.

2/3 years, yah, not too old, you're right.

might as well have a go. see if they germinate. if germinated, then sprout 'em, then grow 'em till sexed. if male, rip 'em out. if female, grow out to see if quality harvest.

otherwise, why keep seeds?

i have sprouted 10 year old seeds, which produced.

I like the wet towel sandwich technique, but last time I put it in a zipped bag - which I thought was a brilliant idea everyone else knew, but me. anyhow, once the tap root splits the shell, you know its germinated - put that in the growing medium to expect it to sprout.

p.s. various theories, but one i thought might have work, is to gently cut/score/mark the old(er) seeds shell with a knife, before attempting to germinate - i say that, coz i wasn't sure if it worked or not on older seeds. maybe it was desperation....

Yeah same with me and seeds. I had a pretty old collection at one time but they still worked. If the seed that sprouted turns out to be male, it'll be my very first seed harvest at the end of the grow. Not much choice for me I'm afraid.

i stored the seeds in medicine jar, hidden in bookshelves.

older seeds do have higher failure rate, and tends to be more stubborn to germinate, taking longer.

maybe soaking in water, see if seeds sink is handy for older seeds..?
