So with my girl as we start into the flowering stage. Do i want to trim, top, thin, anything. Or do i just let it happen. And how do you know that she is ready to harvest. Cause i was taught to feed just water for about two weeks before harvesting. Can someone clarify all this for me please

Yes, thin it out some by removing some of the leaves in center of the plant. You're looking to create better air flow through the plant. Don't over-do the defoliating. Your plant is a bit thick with leaves but it only needs a trim and not a complete haircut.

I prefer to feed up closer than the last 2 weeks. When I'm guessing I'm a week from harvest, I go water only. Plants need nutrients to finish so don't starve them. The easiest way to know when they are done is by using a wireless digital microscope. You can find them reasonably priced on Amazon. It pairs with your smart phone and will allow you to view and take trichome pictures up to 1000x.

Looks like it's going to be a beast! After this grow you'll probably want to flip to flower a little sooner. That plant is going to at least double in size, some triple. Without a scrog net controlling height they can get difficult to deal with very quickly.

Like Roadkill said, thin out the inside leaves and any low side branching that won't receive enough light and prevents free airflow through the plant.

And make sure to clean up all those dead leaves on the bottom of the tent. Seems harmless in the beginning but it's a bad habit to get into that will only bring trouble in the end.

Good luck wrangling that monster!

In the future, if you don't want to scrog or use a net, stake em and do some low stress training when they're younger. For the one you've got now, get some stakes and support those branches.

Thank you for your help. Obviously i am abit lost with all these new techniques. I am still a bit in the dark about how much to trim and when .So i am going to start flower stage . Are you saying that i need to trim it up. Like how much tri.ming should i be doing. Im assuming that I need to trim it slowly like every 3 to 4 days. How many shade leafs should i be leaving from the tops. And im changing the nutrients to the FloraNova Bloom 4-8-7. Do i need to flush her first or can i move directly to the blooming food. What kind of temps and humidity should i be maintaining?

Looks like you did a thorough job cleaning up the bottom. You can switch to bloom nutrients about a week or two after you flip the light schedule to 12/12 and see flowers starting to form. Fan leaves getting full light and not buried inside the plant should be left on. I never flush my plants unless there's a toxicity in the root zone and the plant is unhealthy. 78°-80° with 60% rh to start and try to gradually lower both those numbers as you progress through flower, especially humidity. Once you flip, mark 8 weeks on the calendar and you will start checking trichomes for ripeness then.

Your biggest issue is going to be height. That plant looks like it's gonna reach the light before it's done. A scrog net would help you out a lot in this situation. I would place one about 2/3 the way up that plant and spread it out to lower it. That should give you he headroom you need to finish.

Yes! HLG Blackbird with HLG UVA attached. Little bit of overkill, I've yet to get over 80% power. Rather have extra than not enough though!

So i think i have it right. Probably should have it down more? You say i should wait 2 weeks before changing nutrients from veg to bloom after i switch the lighting. She will be exactly 6 months on the 2nd of August.

If you think you had fun cutting holes in that net now, just wait until you you have to cut it off the plant later.

Definitely not gonna hit the light anymore tho

Trim off all leaves and branches that are not going to get direct access to light usually towards the bottom or inner portion of the plant. Also remove the largest fan leaves which will impair light from penetrating the top of canopy. Don't worry the plant will recover. You will have to do this again in about 3 weeks once it stretches. How many weeks did you veg for?

I've been experimenting with a fast flip (going directly to 12/12) versus a slow flip (going to 12/12 gradually). What I've observed is there's more stretching with a fast flip, and, conversely, less stretching with a slow flip. Thus, if vertical space is in short supply, a slow flip might be the better option.
