Some good advice required, please...

I have a 5x5 tent and I'd like to grow as many plants as possible at the same time for my next grow, which I want to start in the next 4-6 weeks.

I have about 12 strains of feminized seeds to choose from, btw.
I'm not going to grow Autos or regular seeds.

I'm going to use 5 gallon bags and I think that 5 plants would be easily doable, but I'm wondering if I can do 9 plants.

Do you think that I could grow 9 at a time in this 5x5 tent?

Welllllll i believe 9 might just be pushing it abit. Maybe 6 if you don't veg them for more than 6wks. I use smaller bags 3gal even for my photos but my tent is only a 3x3x6. I train them shorter and veg them for almost 2months. I've pushed 4 plants in mine and i don't use a net. The object is to keep them healthy and have good air flow. Plus i run more indica leaning strains that won't get as big as sativa strains.

It's tight but it can be done. I've known of growers who have grown even more using smaller pots. However, with 5 gallon pots, 9 is pretty tight!

I thought maybe i could grow 6, but if you go with 6, anyway you do it you'll have a row of 3...so I thought, 3 rows of 3 = 9

Better ask those in the know, I said.

I probably should have said this part before. If you want to do a run like mine where my plants were 40-48" tall from the top of the pot to the top of the plant, you need to be able to either approach the tent from at least 3 sides so you can get to each plant to give them proper care or plan on taking a few plants out of the tent on watering day so you can tend to them all. What @Galgrows said - 6 plants - that would be the safer number especially if you don't have a lot of grow experience. All my plants are well supported in hoops. Without that support, it wouldn't work very well. A lot of people use nets and that's a great way as long as you can still get to each plant to give it proper care.

What's the lighting in your tent like? I'd estimate you need up to 750 watts total. That's 30W / sq ft. I don't use that much, but some growers do. Dispersion matters as much as wattage, I think.

That 750 watts is a pretty good figure for a 25 ft sq area. Newer lights have better light efficiency so like @LoveGrowingIt said, you might not use it at 100%. Regardless of that, if a fixture that size is in your budget it will give you the best bang for your buck as far as efficiency and longevity especially if you max out your light at 75-80% of its capability. I have an ROI-E720 (capable of 800 watts with light controller) for a space that size and I love it. I've never run it at 100%.

Well I think its all dependant of how long you veg. You could easily grow 16 plants in 3gal pots, shorter veg time and flip to flower. Trim up the bottoms and with a light that size your golden s.o.g

I saw this question and then went out and looked at my screenhouse which is 4x6 to see how many 5 gal plants I'd be comfortable putting in there. And that was what jumped out at me, I can put 15 bags in there comfortably but when the growth exceeds the pot width it would get real crowded real quick. That's why I love those tomato hoops you used in there. Controlling the horizontal space. Making it work.

The key to success with that is still being able to access all of the plants. With that in mind, I've seen people using hydro methods and stuffing up to 50 clones in a space that size. With that grow style, plants rarely get larger than 12-18" but its all one solid cola when done right. You could even double that using shelves as long as you're able to get rid of the heat that 2 lights in a small space would generate.

I bought them at Menards. I did cut the long wires at the bottom to size for my fabric pots but that's the only modification.
