Polo is tough on horses and riders. We came down from Montana with our horses when we moved to California. We brought our clones too.
@Max Frost - a mule is the product of a female horse x male donkey indeed. But, the product of a female donkey x male horse is called a 'Hinny'. I'm not 100% sure of the physical difference... And nope not all mules are 'fems'... but it's very rare for a mule to reproduce from what I understand, that may be what you're thinking of.Beautiful horse! (Mrs. BOG ain't lookin' bad herself)! ;) What's up with donkeys? I've never known the difference between a mule, donkey & burrow. A friend was explaining to me, so now I kinda get it. Aren't mules a donkey x horse? Also heard they are all "fem" versions! lmao.
My father used to play polo and kept several horses. Unfortunately, he didn't have them until I had already left the nest, so I didn't grow up with them. I know I've never seen a man so beaten & bruised as after one of his weekend matches, tho. WOW!! :blackeye: He was part of some team in FL. When he'd return he looked like 5 lbs of hamburger in a 2 lb sack! Those boys must play rough! I know he had a roan of some type and some arabians. They were all beautiful and very sweet. I kept a box of sugar cubes in my car and whenever I'd come over (which was almost everyday for dinner back then...lol) the horses all recognized my car and ran to meet me at the gate. I couldn't pass until each got a sugar cube (or 2). It got to where I started carrying a sack of sweet feed in the back! haha! I loved them. I've smoked many a joint feeding, talking to and petting them. They're great to hang out with even if you don't ride!!
I grew up riding dirt bikes and even raced motocross back in the day a time or two, but I've only ridden horses a couple of times in my life. I understand your trepidation Myco, but as long as you let them feel YOU are in control...you're fine! I think it just scares them when they have a rider who is giving off airs of fear instead of confidence. Find the right horse though and you'll be fine. Some are VERY tolerant and forgiving and gentle. Just get a good, gentle one for your first ride and you'll gain confidence. Then you can go for breaking the stallion! haha!
Very nice Mr. & Mrs. BOG! Looks like you have a great place and a peaceful, serene lifestyle! That's my dream as well and I'm working hard toward achieving it someday. I just want a small place with some land and water, animals, nice food garden (and my meds garden of course), and just live and let live in a peaceful, serene place you can truly call "home"! Best, -Max
You know me max depending if their cuttings or small plants maybe this might help ....What do you find is the best way to move plants? In one particular case, it could be a few days or even a week or longer until things would be set up and ready for them. Do you have any advice or tips? Thanks in advance! Max
I put them in a big box and throw them in a truck...;)
It was a two day trip and they made it fine. I brought just rooted clones and it was a long time ago but I didn't put a light in the box. I guess I just gave them some light riding in the back seat.
They vegged normally after the trip and they didn't suffer really. My clones are like my pets...they are happy just to be with me for a ride.
My advice is to watch temperatures in the box and consider a led light to keep them out of the dark for too long.

I'm not sure why I know that. Possibly from my Biology education in high school or college, I only remember bits here 'n there.
And yeah I feel you about them sensing fear or confidence. Just like dogs! But I've never had a bad experience with a horse personally. But I do recall growing up in upstate New York, we had a one-room school house sort of thing for preschool/elementary (and no, I'm not that old, just a very sparsely populated area LOL), and while in kindergarten we had some locals bring in some horses/ponies on the last day of school. I honestly don't think I rode one, but some other kids did and they'd put the kid up on the horse/pony and just kind of walk/lead the animal around. Well, one of the animals freaked out with this little human on top of it, reared up, thew the kid off the saddle, and the poor little guy ended up getting slightly trampled...
That childhood experience may have burned some fear of riding horses into my conscience...
Racing moto-x is a entirely different animal than what I've ever done... I've been more into sportbikes than anything, only ridden a dirtbike a few times. Honestly, you moto-x guys are fucking crazy.
And doesn't BOG sure have it made? A little piece of paradise in NorCal, enjoying the country and growing/breeding cannabis. Someday I wouldn't mind living on the northern CA coast, the redwood forest and that general area gives off the best vibes I've ever felt while touring the country. Maybe it's also the amazing cannabis, friendly hippies, and fucking massive redwoods that make you feel like you're a part of Alice & Wonderland LOL. Next time I'm in NorCal I need to check out this place:

I'm not sure how I never knew Fern Canyon ^^^ existed, being as how I've been to that national park several times...
Okay so... Sour Grape? Has anybody else finished off some SG ladies that they have to share? I ended up with one pheno that was a seriously MASSIVE yielder. I thought I had some pics but I can't seem to find them... certainly grapey as advertised, good level of resin. But I didn't find a true keeper out of my small pool of phenos. For some reason I can't find any SG pics... wtf... It's a strain I definitely would run again though.
Cheers.

It's like $8.00 and could be used to provide the 24 hours for veg till battery runs out.
Just hot glue it to the top of the box and WHAMO .... just an idea Brother...
:)
Awesome post BOG... :)The Redwood Forest is my backyard and it is the most awesome jungle anywhere.
Walking in this forest is unlike anywhere else. The trees are the largest living things I have ever seen and their weight is incredible.
They would go straight to china like a melted reactor if they didn't all root together into a giant hammock. Their roots never die and their trees just regro forever so you really can't kill one as they are one like the Mycelium of shrooms that may be intelligent I believe the Redwoods are more than alive.
All living things are divine but the Redwood Tree is King of the Jungle and never feared...unless one falls. That's a disaster...they can tumble like dominoes when one falls.
I see them as huge aliens that love me. Yesterday was my yearly quest for water and my spring box is quite remote. I was crawling through thick underbrush and realized that this job is the most unusual job I do.
It's a difficult job but satisfying to be back totally immersed in my jungle. It's where I want to die. My trees love me and we love them.
Visit NorCal at least once. Bog
Yeah I remember very odd bits from college, and funny thing is it wasn't that long ago, I'm in my late twenties. LOL about the rooster 'laying' a hen, that made me laugh. Thanks Myco!!! Glad to finally know the real skinny on that! A "Hinny"...never even heard of one before. I'll have to Google that now! Haha...I want to know how you know that too! o_O About all I remember from my high school biology class (and yes...I AM that old) is the teacher telling us it was theoretically possible for a rooster to lay an egg. Of course I raised my hand and said the only thing I ever heard of a rooster laying was a HEN!!! (Back to the prinicpal's office for young Max).
And just for the record...I tried the motocross thing exactly twice. Got completely run over at the gate on the first moto, and never even did a lap! On the second moto it was an unlimited class and I was on a Yamaha 360. The 500's (and even a couple of 125's, lol) were a cloud of dust way up ahead, and I still managed to wipe out hard with a few other bikes involved. You're right...those guys are fuggin nutz!!! So ended my brilliant motocross career.
I'd LOVE to check out that part of the country some day. I've never been! It does seem beautiful and serene tho! Thanks for posting that nice pic. I may use that as my wallpaper for a while!
I have a couple old sour grape shots, but they've been posted awhile. I feel sure you've seen them, so I won't repost unless you specifically ask to see them. I don;t think I have anything that hasn't been posted in my BOG thread...or here. And I'm pretty sure you've already seen both. Hope you can find your pics! I'd love to see how yours turned out! By the way...thanks again for your tomato cage suggestion! It's working great on my chocolope this round. BOG's genetics are so strong-branched and hardy, I haven't needed support on anything of his I've ran! Best, -Max
I have always seen the beauty of nature where ever I go. There isn't a county that doesn't have sacred places. Take a hike and find your secret place. Then sit down and share some raw herb.
The peace and beauty is not hard to find even on this busy planet.
Alrighty ladies and gents, let's get back on coarse here not the horse.HEHEHE I have come to join the party. We have a 10 for 10 on the SG's and the SB's. We'll have to see what happens here. Have a Great 4th everybody! No shortage of beauty Max...
We rode our motorcycle down to Smoky Mountains National Park and we also rode a ways up the Appalachian Parkway.
Lots of good genetics to come from Planet Earth. :)
