Have you thought about getting rid of the intake and fully sealing the room? If so just keep the co2 hose above the plants behind a fan (like your friend suggested) and make sure to have good air circulation on the floor so the co2 that falls gets pushed back up to the underside of the leaves where it is utilized.
I'm assuming, like with any 100% sealed room that he would get a dehumidifier also to control humidity.definitely do not do this unless you really like mold and humidity,
