okay well I'm a 41 yr old first time grower of Auto Flowers. I have two different plants of Apple Fritter Autos growing and one looks stunted to me and the other looks leggy and is now turning yellow. I use a spray bottle to water with, and I don't know what's wrong with the one. I bought an Igrowcan set up from royal queen seeds and it started out great and now it's turning out bad. We'll one is. I'm gonna provide two pics. I'm sure even Ray Charles can see which is which. I need some ideas on how to save the Lil girl if she can even be saved. Pics provide are Apple Fritter Autos. The yellow one started in a grow can set up and it ended up with fly larvae in the coco medium they provided. So I removed the grow plug from said medium. Roots didn't start outside of the grow plug yet so I figured it was safer to do so. What should I have done instead if anything?p

Aglex lights, ive had them both at the same height from the lights. Im using my bathroom to grow in which im waiting to remodel after this grow. It was in the igrowcan setup at first and as i explained the coco medium they provided ended up with fly larvae in it so i switched it wo fox farm soil and its been turning yellow ever since. Its still growing new leaves but they are yellow as well. Id hate to lose it if it could be reversed.

I sent a response and pics hope that helps some? Are they too close? The lengthy one that's yellow I had started it out with a whole different kind of light which I believe is why it grew taller than the other one that's still healthy. Any advice is grateful!

Isnt foxfarm soil strong for seedlings?

Yellow on new growth that starts at the base and moves towards the tip is usually an iron or sulphur issue. At that age it's most likely a root zone issue and not a deficiency. Iron is very dependent on an acidic pH to become a available in soil.

My guess is it's been over watered with an alkaline source.

Are you using tap or well water? Most municipalities raise the water pH to counteract the leaching of lead from old pipes. Some go overboard to like 8.5 pH.
If your root zone is constantly saturated with this water it is very hard for baby plants to buffer it back to levels where it needs to be.

Let them dry out a bit between watering, the containers should feel really light and it could take at least 3-5 days. The extra time will also give the soil a chance to buffer the pH for the plants. And loose the sprayer. More water less frequently is waaaaay better that little spritzes all the time.

I have used it and it depends on the strain, some love it with no issues and others it will burn the plant. I now use their ocean mix with their happy frog for the top half of the pot for when it is in seedling. The roots hit the ocean mix the first month in with the grow dots

Looks over watered. I hate small cups and go from a tail in a paper towel direct into a pot.
Coco is always wet and soil needs a dry back where the soil is dry. Do not water like coco. Overwatering is too often not to much at the same time. Try to work on a
Fox farms user and running autos. The big yellow one may be dead.
Fox farms has food for 3-4 weeks. Water only. Try to work on a 3 day cycle and a 2 day for seedlings. Let them dry down and water about 300ml at the outer perimeter of the leads, many people put a solo cup over the plant and water around it.
Fox farms can also benefit from perlite in the mix. 3 cups in a 5 gallon fabric pot seems about the biggest choice mixed well. This helps with drainage

Well the one is doing great and the other stopped growing. The one which I put in fox farm as a seed is growing great while the other which started in coco medium has turned out to be a bad Apple. So idk.

Thank you, I've got them both in a happy frog and fox farm mixture of soils. I also have perlite mixed with it as well. Yeah I bought quite a few seeds this go.around cause I wanted to make sure that I get at least one to grow lmao . I know how to roll 1 up and smoke it down like a pro, but I guess my green thumbs stop at the licking of the wraps . Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of and keep these darn flies out of my soils?

This is where I started. Another great resources is right here. Use the 3 horizontal bars for navigation. Find forums and then scroll and look for Diaries. Look for longer runs so you can virtually go all the way from seed to harvest. There is so much information in diaries.
You can use the search feature to tailor your diaries. Search fox farms and organic if you are using organic nutes or outdoor. Cabinet grow you name it.
Good luck and lots of folks will help. The more info on your grow helps us tailer your answers. Medium, nutes, lights, enviroment, strain, age since seed/veg/flower and water or nutrition rate.

Yeah, I had a fly infestation with the coco medium royal queen seed provides. And I figured I switch the medium since the roots weren't growing outside the plug ot would be okay. Well, I just saw more of that larvae in it and I'm just done fighting it. Guess I will just throw some green Gelato in the dirt and see how it rides out. Hope for the best this time I guess! And I used distilled water on my crop. Even my tomatoes I use distilled water on them .

I use a mixture of 3 parts ocean mix to 1 part fox farm mediums. Need some fresh ideas on how to start these next seeds so that I don't have to toss them out as well. Some tips, hints,or ideas would be very grateful . Like after germination should I just throw it in solo cups again or should I just throe it in a big pot ? And do I have my lights too far, too close? The lighting and watering is my biggest downfalls. Any advice is helpful.

When I used fox farm soil I did 50/50 mix with added perlite.

Since you are a beginner, it may be better for you to plant in final pot to lessen chances of shock. I germinate the paper towel method than plant on final container.
Definitely do some research and plan ahead. When I first started I didn't know what I was doing but you gradually learn.

Read about ppfd and par and that should give you an estimate of light distance. Seedlings don't need a lot of light. You could read about vpd as well but I'd worry more about the basics.

Okay well I'm pretty much trying to do this on a buck. I bought some aglex lights from a buddy and I bought 2 igrowcans from Royal Queen Seeds. Tried it their way, got no good results. The strain is Apple Fritter Auto, I did the unhealthy one in their soil and plugs and it started out great and well you see what I have now. The other is Apple Fritter as well. And I just put in glass of water and then threw it in the cup. Seems to be doing great.

It shouldn't compared to veg and flowering. I think around 200 ppfd is good for seedlings. If the seedlings start stretching, you'll want to move the light closer.

ideally your plant would not stretch at all and start producing leafs almost at ground level then you know its enough

So I know what ppfd is. But what is part? Sorry I'm 21 questioning everybody. I'm just trying to survive out here, and learn more than I know now which isn't much anymore lmao, and not have to pay for my smoke anymore lmao.
