Stray Bale Gardening

saw this the other day and thought it was pretty neat. Gonna pick up a bale and throw some peppers and tomatoes in it after its been conditioned.

The bottom bales out on my Archery range/target I are looking similar to those

I try to set out bales every year in certain places. It works very well, but requires a LOT of water. Letting them rot in situ leads to soil building up. :)

Do you worry about the chemicals in the hay @CelticEBE ?

Or can you find organic hay?

My local feed yard has organic alfalfa, but its 22$ a bale.

Haven't checked on what kind of hay I have available to me yet. Got a lot of irons in the fire right now.
