Stupid Question From A New Grower...

So I'm looking to buy 8 600w gavita lights and a buddy happens to be selling some but I'm not sure if I can use em.

Theyre dimmable but would I need to change the bulb to a 600w or the 1000w will act as a 600w when dimmed? And whats the difference between single ended and double? Does it matter for me?
Lol stupid I know but I want to get the right equipment
Any advice would be great

Putting a 600w bulb on a 1000w ballast isn't a great idea.

You could just run 4 1000w instead of the 6 600w. Depends on the area/layout of your grow space I suppose

But couldnt I just dim the 1000w to 600w or is that not how it works?
Its a 10×17 space
I was advised by a friend to do 8 plants with 8 600w... 1 light per plant

Would be kinda silly to get 1000w'ers and dim them all to 600w imo. but to each their own

Dimming a 1000 down the a 600 will sacrifice bulb longetivity, and the K spectrum it puts out.

I can have 12
But from what I've seen and heard you yeild the same no matter how many with given amont of lights

Depending on what variety you are growing!

Shape and pruning also impact yield significantly. Especially if the buds have to meet the "sellable" standard.

1000 de's on 600 is like driving with your e brake on. If you dont know what your doing start with a few cheaper se 600s & learn to grow.

Drive your Honda until your ready for the Lambo because as a new driver your bound to have a few fender benders & fixing that Honda is a lot cheaper :)

8- 1000w gavits in a 10x17 is going to take a hell of a lot of cooling. My last grow was the same size and I was running 4 gavits at full 1150w and it took 4 ton A/C to cool that bitch.and was more then enough to supply adequate love for my ladies.

The main reason to not turn down a 1000w Gavita is efficiency. This is why Gavita made 750w units. If you don't have the proper cooling, I'd think about putting in some CMH. Happy Growing!
