Sulfur pellets do they work well ?

So I been using sulfur pellets, I sprinkle some on-top of my medium before feeding and haven't had any issues. Do they actually help the plant soak up nutrients or am I just adding more chemicals that don't need to be there?

Sulfer is pretty important so if it isn't hurting anything carry on
