You know the other gear on the market for adding blue and ultraviolet; stuff like CFLs for reptiles, ceramic MH, and even Gavita's own plasma system...

The fact sheets I've read all say bulb in horizontal position. Since it's a double ended bulb, I think it might be hard to build a bare bulb vertical fixture for it anyway...

If you want to run a Gavita lighting system vertically, that's what the SE line is for. Those are screw in, single ended bulbs, I don't remember but I think they run the same 250v ballast as conventional HID.
