I thought a thread on supporting indoor tree's would be a good one. I've always done cages in the past but sometimes the middle of the plant still needs help and it can still be a lot of work. I'm thinking about cages with trellis on top this go around, kind of a hybrid system. Let them bush out into the cages then scrog the top as the grow out of the cage.

Would love to see or hear about what you all are doing? It's always helpfull to see some other ideas. Vegging out a big tree is the easy part, holding up the mass is another story and a huge part of the equation for growing trees. Thanks for sharing.

25-30 yo-yo's/plant. Really helps at harvest if you have a few trees. JK

I've done yo yo's, thats how I've dealt with the inside of the plants collapsing. I was doing 48" wide cages. I still have about 500 yo yo's just wanted to do something else. Here's a pic of some double stacked cages. Top half engulfed the cages well, bottom half didn't need it lol. Old room though, I'm starting fresh now.

I remember when TF came out with that design and everyone was so damn stoked on it. Looks like some beautiful trees!

I went to look for a pic I had posted here a good while back but I guess it did not make the change over. I did find a pic of one of my best work that I did not know existed,Smelly Delhi.I would give up an acre with an ocean view to get that back. So I asked a friend to send a copy of that pic of ms walker that showed what happen when I start to run out of room. JK

Just opposite since they are going away from the bulb they are getting fluffier. When you torn apart a bud from the middle they were white gooey, golf ball buds. From not seeing the light of day for a while. JK

That is a different way of using yo yos.

@chronondale:

Did you see what gettogro did he just threw a net over the cage when they were getting too big, probably around week 2-3.

how about a 54inch tomato cage , then just toss a piece of trellis netting over the plant at around 7-10 days into bloom .. with smaller tree's like I grow (2 plants per light) , in theory my idea sounds great (in my head ,lol)

trying to figure out something that will keep me from having to support branches individually

Nets and cages just add to the stress of a harvest. Yo-yo's last about 4 years and I have completely
supported aero tree's with them. Plus I get my 30% comish off all sales. JK

Don't get me wrong I love the yo yo's. I got a lot of grief about them from other growers a few years ago when they first came out. I used to line the cages with them to train the branches out and down until they reached the perimeter of the cage. Then I would remove the yo yo's and attach them to a grid above the lights and support the branches from above when they needed it.

My hesitancy to use them now is this particular room has 14' ceilings so I'm kinda limited there. I may end up hangin a frame above each table and attaching from there.

Your right JK once they are there they are a breeze to use. Just pull them down when you need them. When you're done just unhook and they're up there waiting for the next round. Sometimes I just need to get realed back in to what I know works. Change one little part of your system and pretty soon you have to change others parts-and so on and so on.

Do what I am going to do. Flip the yo yo around so that the part that is supposed to grab the plant is grabbing the ceiling grid. Cut bendable wire to 7' lengths (or whatever makes them in your reach) and attach one end to the yo yo (the part that is supposed to go on your string there). Bend the other end of the wire in to a hook. I actually like to wrap the wire right under a node.

If you pre hung a shitload of yo yos once you could easily work with this. When you harvest just unwrap the wire, and pull it out and through the flower branch. I just bought a 1600' roll of aluminum wire from a craft store. It will be perfect I guarantee.

HOLY SHIT. Those are some of the most incredible looking TREES I've ever seen. If you would be so kind, would you please tell me what week of flower those pics were taken, and what the Veg was like?

Many Thanks!

I believe that was at 8 weeks out of 9 1/2 total. Those were some Critical Sensi Star from seed. It is a beastly strain. They actually had a really hard veg. Had a really bad lock out in coco and root aphids out of control. Got them back on track right at the beginning of flower when I started using Cap's teas. That was it for me I've been sold on his beneficials since, that was almost two years ago. I think it was about a 8-9 week veg from seed. Heavy 16 start to finish with Massive week 1-5 and MOAB week 6-7 along with Caps teas til flush.

Impressive. That's coco or sunshine mix? You've inspired me to try running something besides the UC!

That was 50/50 coco/perlite feed 6x daily in a 10 gallon smart pot. Now I usually run Gold Label 60/40 hydroton/coco watered for 15 seconds every hour during lights on, they freakin blast. Those plants got way too tall for my horizontal lights but it was a seed run with 15 other strains and that's just the way they grew compared to everything else. I usually keep them a lot more compact, same footprint but 2 1/2 feet shorter.
