I have an ongoing issue with the lower leaves of both my plants. I am just entering the third week of my initial grow and the lower leaves are darker in color and feel a little bit crispy. There is new yellowing. The newest growth appears healthier. When I initially uncovered them as seedlings I had several hours where my humidity was out of control. Could this have been damage from that episode? I have attached a couple of pictures of the issue. Thank you all in advance. Any information would be helpful. Peace

Been watering with about 6 oz pH balanced water every couple of days. Just introduced small amount of nutrients (FOOP) as per the recommendation. Thought it might have been thirsty as the lower leaves feel dry and like paper. Using foxfarm as my soil. Transplanted entire biodegradable nursery bags into 5 gallon fabric pots and backed the lights off slightly. Just have to exercise patience at this point and hope they dry out slightly and perk back up. Thanks my friends...

Fox farm should have enough nutes in it for now.i wouldn't give it any nutes for a couple weeks at least.stop watering let it dry out. This us how my plants always look right before I kill them with to much love.they will bounce back if you leave them alone.i wouldn't even look at them for a week.good luck

The swollen leaves leads me to believe, you are overwatering.

Aerate the soil surface with your hand. It will help promote dry back and oxygenate the soil.

You want to be watering the whole pot not just around the plant.
Roots will not grow into dry soil.
But you need to allow dry back after watering.
I found this thread a real help when starting to water.
The plants needs change and smaller plants are harder to control then larger IME.

New Simplified Way to Water Marijuana Plants

To know if you need to water your cannabis plant get yourself a soil meter. Poke or drill 4 holes in your pot 1/4 way up from the bottom spaced around the pot...

I drilled holes in my 5g buckets at 1/4,1/2 and 3/4 up from bottom on 2 sides.
It helped me alot .

Yea way under watered… not nearly enough to saturate the media. plants cannot take up nutrients that are not dissolved in water, bacteria need water to break down and convert nutrients to an available form.

They key is moist not wet and a proper draining soil will give you that so dont skimp on the amount of water you give. Overwatering is caused by water to often not to much

As @steamroller says water to saturate the pot and allow a good dry back. Id also start in smaller containers and transplant up to make watering easier with less issues.

here is another article that explains some of the mechanisms of watering.

What is your temp and humidity?

that also plays a big role in transpiration

The seedlings were transplanted into a quart sized nursery bags. When they were looking tired I put them into the 5 gal fabric pots. I did moisten the soil slightly before transplanting. I suspect they have have been too moist in the smaller bags. I am hoping the soil in the larger pot will help disburse some of the excess that may have been in the nursery bags. Should I trim a couple of the lowest leaves to focus more energy on the new growth? I am concerned with them contacting the soil. Thanks all!

Wait at least a week before you cut off bottom leaves. Looks like your plants are at the 3rd or 4th node. I'd feel better about cutting bottom leaves after they've sprouted and established their 5th or 6th node.

Bottom watering will saturate entire media. Dryback 3 - 4 days depending on plant feed rate and environment.
