Switching from 120v to 240v power cord

I am switching from 120v to 240v.

I have a 8 light controller that I am wiring up. My question is can I use the 120v power cords from the ballast and put them in the 240v controller?
I have a 8 light controller, So can I cut the ends of the male 120v wires that plug in and switch it to a 240v male plug or is the wiring different?
The 240v ballast power cord cost $9 and I really do not have $72 for 8 cords. That is why I would like to buy 8 male 240v and use the same wire from the 120v.
Is this ok to do or do I have to buy the 240v power cords from the ballast to the controller?

i wont answer your question, but both 120v and 240 use 3 wire connections.
I believe 120v is 1 hot, 2 ground
240v is 2 hot, 1 ground

so, if you know what you are doing, you can convert them

The answer to your question is yes. As long as the wiring is done correctly the cord will supply 240 just fine. No need to buy a different cord.

Agreed with Double Dub - I had a couple 120/240 switchables, and all I had to do was to plug the power cord (female end) into the appropriate power I wanted (either 120 or 240, obviously).

The cord didn't change.

Not to be a smart ass or anything, but if you're wiring up your own controller, shouldn't you already know that? (I'm asking that in all sincerity, as I don't really know dick about wiring)

Anyways, wiring is nothing to play around with - be careful and good luck.
