It doesn't really work that way. It won't necessarily double your par it depends on the angle of the Lens a higher par may just mean more concentrated well a lower par could mean a wider spread. Or you could have a widespread with a super high par. The big question is how much do you want to spend
Advanced Platinum P-Series is a really good light. They are pretty costly and their coverage is not quite what they claim. That is the par is so high on them for the Watts they use because the light is concentrated instead of spread outDon't get me wrong any light on the market will technically work. It really needs to be tailored to your setup and budget.
The reason that the Cobs work so great is because they are super intense even though you are blowing a lot of Watts on wasted Spectrum the intensity makes up for it. But blue and red is still and always the best bang for your buck.Seems legit?
Dr. mc scunkins is telling you the best light. You're going to waste some Watts on useless Spectrum with those lights but it is worth it because of the intensity. So I use that Cree cob and simply add more cheap blue at veg and more cheap red at flower.I get where you are coming from and that was on my mind. Like I said I'll probably just get one and if it doesn't work out then it's just over 1/3 of my plants. So win or lose I'll know and you guys will know.
HPS is the best anyway. But if you throw a LED in the mix it is even better go ahead and get it you'll probably be happyThanks for all the information. Guess I'm getting A/C and biting the bullet on this electricity bill for now
If you just go with a heavy red for flower the little bit of electricity will be well worth it heavy red with a little blue is the most efficient thing you can use so you don't have to Overkill it.Looking to use less power, not more lol I just bought Meizhi 600w because I need a veg light. Might buy the 1200w for flower. I just wanna know for myself.
A little bit of LED with that HPS will go a lot further than you know.Looking to use less power, not more lol I just bought Meizhi 600w because I need a veg light. Might buy the 1200w for flower. I just wanna know for myself.
Dang all you do is work.View attachment 706371
Cobs n quantum boardz rulez, all the rest r fer foolz :)
But really, this spot was 12.7kw of hps and mh lighting and now im using just under 8kw with yields slightly up and power bill way down. Vipar is just a rebranded mars panel.terrible thermal management so it wont last.plus that whole smoke n mirrors about the wattage lol.
That is awesome!View attachment 706371

That's good advice I wound up buying a roleadro with 3000k Cree cobs on Amazon simply because I do not have time for a build. It's small but I didn't need much more I'm pretty happy with it.I had a viparspectra for about a week before returning it. Its probably ok for veg, but I dont recommend for flower. The unit megalith linked to above is in the same category as viparspectra. These are known as blurples. Avoid these.
If you're going LED, you want cobs and/or quantum boards
I actually tried one of those and returned it I didn't like it.Could get 2 of these .

Good reviews aswell
nice! i built a light with citi 1818 3000k 90cri and had already bought a roleadro, but then I switched the cobs out for citi 1212's 3000k 80cri. If i need another 2 cob light, i'll just upgrade another roleadro. Way easier than building the whole thingThat's good advice I wound up buying a roleadro with 3000k Cree cobs on Amazon simply because I do not have time for a build. Haha I was wondering if down the road I could do the same thing. Just didn't know if I would upgrade heatsinks what did you do?nice! i built a light with citi 1818 3000k 90cri and had already bought a roleadro, but then I switched the cobs out for citi 1212's 3000k 80cri. You dont need to upgrade the heatsinks. All you need to do is drill a couple holes in the heatsinks for the new cobs. I used bjb holders to mount mine. It all fit back together without any mods to the case.Haha I was wondering if down the road I could do the same thing. Just didn't know if I would upgrade heatsinks what did you do?

Those cree's are good chips, although the 3070 in the roleadro is an older model, but its still fine. You have a good light as is. Maybe in a year or so technology will have improved enough to warrant an upgrade. Thats kinda how I'm thinkin anyway
