Jacks Professional; what it has, what it doesn't

Garden of Dreams said:
Sugar works great, in fact Dextrose is what I've been using, and the gram scale for feeding is the way of the future Imvho, all my nutes are powder now and require a scale, I like we're you guys are at with this. We're you guys getting your micros from? Is that in Jacks already forgive me if you already mentioned SB, glad to see you happy and comfortable with the new nutes and your Tardawgs speaks volumes on your success!!!

Ok, so the Jack’s Professional 5-12-26 Hydroponic nutrient formula contains all the necessary micronutrients, chelated to stay in solution and available to the plants. I had a long and very informative conversation with one of their staff, and that's what she told me. She also said, among many other things not relevant here, the following: What it does NOT contain, and therefore you may want to add:

Calcium or much Nitrogen. That's because it's designed to work with a very common fertilizer salt, Calcium Nitrate. So, add some. Add it LAST after all other nutrients, otherwise you risk calcium lockout. If the calcium level is high in your water, you may want to either use RO or other purification, or find another way to add in sufficient nitrogen. By the way, Calcium Nitrate is easy to find, and inexpensive. I got a 50 lb bag for $35.00 at a wholesaler. I may not need more in my lifetime, lol.

For our purposes, we may want more magnesium and sulfur, so you can add epsom salts, aka magnsium sulfate. Also cheap, I got mine at the grocery store in the pharmacy section for less than $10.

Buffering agents, so you must manage your own pH. Be aware it will swing around a lot- generally up- so keep an eye on it, and be prepared to add pH down regularly for the first few days after you change your nutrient solution.

If you need to know how much of these to add, feel free to let me know and I'll give you the skinny- I use what Snowblind told me to and while it hasn't been very long yet, so far it's working like a charm!

I hope I've answered your questions, and I can't recommend the stuff highly enough... I'm officially done letting AN and their ilk tell me that I can't live without their products, but they won't tell me what's in them!

Can you tell me what the sugar is for, and how much to add to my DWC?

I dont know. I read about this mix on another forum and am trying it out. The carbs seem to pump resin so people think the last few days. Im flushing for 3 days with sugar in the raw and citric acid after feeding a low P formula for the last week.

..Ill get some pictures up soon. Pheno 2 is truly sick. All 3 phenos are completely different. One pheno might have a micro nanner. Not the denser pheno 2. The nugs are denser and kind purple hued.

TarDawg nug (pheno 2) is on the left in the first picture and is resting against a Raskal Fire Og x Alien nug which is on the right. The second picture is #2.

Hello Snowbird, I'm currently running Jack's Hydro Herb in our DTW Canna coco. 3 grams plus 1.5 grams of Epsom salt per gallon along with 1 ml of DM Zone. My question is at what point would you run the Bloom Booster? It seems it would be run right after the stretch in flowering. Week 2 or 3. My other question is the frequency of use? If we are watering everyday would you hit them with the booster one day? or several days in a row? then jump back to the Hydro. Would you jump back and forth between the booster and Hydro till you flush? Thanks again.

Photo secrets? I suck a taking pictures!

Its the equipment....

Any good Canon camera
A 100 mm L series macro lense
A good tri-pod
A good ball head to hold and move the camera
A quick clamp plate for your camera
A macro slider rail
A hand held shutter release for taking the pictures
A good macro ring-flash

Take the pictures in RAW. You then edit and convert to JPEG and post.

Great thread. i've used the same formula...give or take for about a year. Your attention to detail has pulled off another great grow.

That came out soooo nice man. Really digging the formula you put together too. I bet it's delicious and stoney as shit. Super pretty nugs to boot.
I've definably been busy the last couple months. Not too much growing but getting stuff ready and planing. Happens when you move. :)

Keep doing it!
