Im running a 1000w led light for my grow..

My tent during the day seems to hover between 80 - 82.4 degrees with a humidity of between 40-47% but tends to stay on the lower end near 40%

Im not sure if I should be working to get it cooler, up the humidity, or leave it right where it is.

This is my first grow so I want to make sure im not overheating my plant.

At night my thermometer in the tent shows a happy face at 76.5degrees and 45 humidity.

Pleas help 🗣

While a lot of growers seem very concerned about humidity, I don't pay it too much attention unless it starts to get overly humid. I grow indoors and the Rh is 40% at the top end in summer, closer to 10% in the winter and I don't really see much difference, except in the winter I sometimes get a tiny bit of leaf tip browning until the plants are about a ft tall. Keep in mind that the Rh can be a lot different than the humidity at the leaf surface due to the microclimate made by other leaves... each one raises the humidity a little bit and collectively, they can raise the effective Rh at the leaf surface by 20% or more. The point I'm trying to make is that plants will create their own humidity and the Rh of their growing area isn't overly important, at least in my opinion. Different strains come from different climates... some tropical and some arid. Cannabis is pretty versatile in adjusting to different conditions.
The temp and Rh that you are running now is fine... I like to have my temps to about 82, personally.

Not sure the size of plants. Is it a true 1000w?

Ideally humidity should be 60-70% in veg with the lights on. At night plants don't really transpire so there is not real issue to drop it to 45% and I would say it's beneficial. If you out a humidifier on a timer that comes on at light on and shits off about an hour before lights out that should help prevent the humidity spike normally seen at lights out.

The harder you drive the plants with light the more humidity becomes important.

Thanks for thr feedback Jimster! Yeah a lot of the growers i’ve seen on youtube tend to have temp/hum around the same as mine.. and say the same as you.

My plant looks really good and healthy, wasnt sure if i was giving it the best environment possible

Ahh I see, I do have a mini humidifier sitting in there with it just in case. I will try running it for a few and see what happens.

If you aren't blasting them with 1000ppfd then it's less of an issue. The slower the growth the less the impact.

With led I run my room about 84f so you have no issue there.

Good to know! Thanks Aqua!! 😎😎

Hey @GrowWithTheFlow, the best way to control the environment is by monitoring Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) which is based on temperature and humidity (here is a calculator). Each grower's VPD is their "secret sauce" for optimal growth. It looks like your VPD goes from about 2.13 during the day to 1.7 at night

VPD changes depending on your plants' stage of growth. Here are some guidelines:
  • Cloning: approx 0.8kPa
  • Vegetaive: approx: 1.1 kPa
  • Flower: approx 1.6 kPa
It sounds like your VPD is a bit high which may cause mold and poor growing conditions.

P.S. this is all theory 😉. Interested to hear how it is going in real life.
