THCosmic's Closet: Chasing the Cosmic High

All of the RDWC units have been assembled. Still need the air stones from the tote and the tent though. Also need to purchase 2 more water pumps so they are all the same. Currently using 3x vivosun 210gph, the 317gph from the cloner, and a random 80gph. I...

I am currently doing a leak test on one unit and will be moving the water from unit to unit to leak test them all.

There is 11 gallons being circulated in there. Turns out that is the max since it comes up to the bottom of the net pot. I will let it cycle for at least an hour, then check to see if water accumulated near the union fitting.

I will run all these units with only 10 gallons. Originally thought I would be using 12, but 10 will do just fine. Less trips to the water filter to fill them up.

I have my setup on the second floor of the town house couldn't risk having a RDWC, plus with me usually doing 4 different strains at a time. They usually prefer different nutrients at different times. A res would be great if it was all the same strain.

I'm also on the second floor of a townhouse. I got the tarp down and it is 4 layers thick, hehe.

Multiple strains is the main reason I wanted to have 5 separate RDWC units. Only going with 1 plant in each since my legal limit is 5 plants.

I forgot the closet lights go off for 2 hours at this time. I guess the first leak test will run for 3 hours.

It's a bit tedious filling each bucket by hand but I get to see the roots an hose them down when replacing or adding water. I'll post a picture of my BritCoin clone root later tonight. Total freak of nature.

Yep yep! I want to add wheels to them too so I can move/rotate them a tiny bit. That way I can sit on my ass in one spot and inspect all sides of each plant. That will have to wait for the next grow though.

Still got some junk I need to remove, but you can see 3 against the far wall and 2 are stacked on each other to the right. The top one on the right has been leak tested and is all good. Currently testing the middle unit on the back wall.

Of course I jinxed it! 4th unit tested has a tiny leak. 30 minutes of running and there were a few drops directly under the union fitting. Took a cotton swab to find that it is leaking from the female side of the union fitting. I will most likely redo both sides anyways or at least tighten up the male side to be safe. At the very least, this will be the unit that waits until the tote is removed before going to its permanent spot in the closet.

Hey everyone! Been a while since I posted an update on the closet grow.

5 of the 6 seeds are still attempting to grow. Bucket lids were 2 weeks late, so they all stayed in the tote way too long. I got lazy with them during the holiday and didn't keep up with their nutrient needs. They suffered because of this, but nothing they can't bounce back from.

I still have 1 light being used in the tent, so I could only transplant 3 into their permanent individual units, while I have the larger 2 sharing the better light. I should be able to reclaim the other light in 2-3 weeks. In hindsight, I should have waited at least 2 weeks until germinating this batch.

The one with the white lid will be replacing the tote in a few weeks. The one with the two blue lids is waiting for its light.

Back with another update!

All lights are in the closet, but there are only 4 plants now. 3 have fully recovered and one was recently transplanted showing signs of recovery.

Still need to remove the tote, but all my water pumps are in use so draining it will be a pain. I'm thinking of just scooping the water out into a 5 gallon jug until it is light enough to easily lift out of the closet.

The 3 corner plants are doing very well! Been training them forward toward their reservoir. Once the smaller one recovers more, then I will train it forward for 1 week and switch to 12/12.

Here are closeups of each plant from a few days ago. They go in order from left to right in reference to the group image above.

The small plant is recovering nicely. I will be switching to 11/13 lighting this weekend. Still need to be on the lookout for males.

Finally removed the tote!

From left to right: Plant 1, 2, 3, and 5. As you can see, unit 4 is empty and each plant is simply numbered according to their RDWC unit.

Tied down plant 1. Opened up a lot of middle space, but most of the tied down branches will refill it as they grow back upwards.

Plant 2 is doing well. Got some ties in there pulling the 2 main stems toward the reservoir.

Plants 3 and 5 need to be tied down next. Will most likely get to them later tonight or tomorrow.

Once I switch the closet to 11/13 lighting, it will remain at that indefinitely. I will be moving to a permanent 12/12 from seed cycle, or 11/13 from seed in this case.

I will also be adding another plant soon. I realized that if I go 11/13 from seed permanently, then I can introduce new seedlings to the closet at any time. I don't want to grow during the hottest time of the year so I will still need to time it so I don't germinate a new seed if it won't be harvested before then.

Going to also use rockwool for the transplant into the clay pebbles. I have a sheet of 98 starter plugs so I might as well use them. If I grow 20 plants a year this will last nearly 5 years.

The closet just finished its first day of 11/13 lighting.

Plant 1 is showing pre-flowers that look female.

Plant 2 and 3 don't have any pre-flowers showing.

Plant 5 has a few tiny pre-flowers, but so far they resemble small crab claws so this one might be male.

Plant 1 is the largest, so it will be nice if it turns out female. Plant 5 is the 2nd largest, so it will definitely suck to lose that one. I may collect some pollen from it though. I really hope plant 3 turns out to be female. Plant 2 is just along for the ride.

Plants 1, 2, and 3 are all female!

Plant 5 was definitely male so it got pulled (about 2 weeks ago). Images aren't the greatest, but you can see some crab claws forming there.

I started germinating 2 more seeds to fill the 2 open spots and run them 11/13 from seed.

Here are some more recent pics of the 3 plants that are now flowering:

Group shot.

Plant 1

Plant 2 before and after being rotated and tied down. Trying to fill that middle space as best as I can.

Just about 7 weeks since switching to 11/13. The ladies are looking good! I will be giving them a good trim this weekend. They still need anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to finish.

I have 3 Fruit Punch seedlings that have just entered the closet. Need to grow out their roots a bit more before they can be transplanted into the remaining units. Only 2 units available, so hoping a current plant gets harvested soon. Will be checking trichomes this weekend and will have more pictures soon.

Just wanted to show off the dark purple nugs of one of the blackberry kush plants.

These nugs have such a strong smell it makes me cough when I take a big whiff. I got a bit lazy with trimming so there are a lot of random dried leaves. I will remove them as I smoke them.

I got just over 1 ounce of this purple. Got just over 2 ounces from another and still have 1 drying that I plan to trim and jar today or tomorrow, which should yield around 2 ounces. Probably tomorrow since recent rain increased the humidity.
