I'm ready to replace my carbon filter 3 or 4 months early just because of her she smells so.. it's hard to describe but STRONG would be the first word REEKS would be the second LOL

It's something like dark grapes rotting in the Sun mixed with some kind of glue and fuel

although right now she's changed from that she's totally objectionable! I don't know what the smell is but before I chop or I'm going try to figure it out

i am going to suggest that the shultz 20-20-20 works better with your soil and water. Or the ratio you chose of masterblend needs tweaking?

yes everything's the same it could have possibly been in promix with worm castings the first run but I can't say that for sure, and if I'm honest this one could be in Pro mix with worm castings too I didn't write down what I use for medium

I DID tweak my master blend ratio! I added more Epsom salts

I haven't used Masterblend in jeez probably 6 months?

Normally I use the 20-20-20 in veg because it gives outrageous leaf growth but I misplaced my scale and I couldn't measure the Masterblend so I started using the Schultz in bloom

But I flowered those big Blackberry bubble gum with the Schultz last year too so I know it's does a fine job

I've grown cannabis with Miracle-Gro before so I'm not really about pricey lines of newts, I'd rather keep the money in my own pocket believe me LOL I give a plant what it needs, and let it do what it do!

I've had clones change from the mother plant I had four cheese clones when I first started growing again; two of them didn't look anything like the mother plant and I don't know why, and I've seen it to lesser degrees here and there but I know the first Mazzy Star was green I still have a little bit of it in a jar somewhere and it's green so IDK what happened??

not sure if you got that i am saying the shultz worked better in bloom. Does it have more sulfer? Maybe no calcium?

Well I don't know about better, I understand better's a word that we could discuss the definition of but let's just say that the definition of better is superior, so I can't say that it's Superior

I believe that if you put the required nutrients in the soil the plant doesn't care how you put them in there, only that there in there

And if their in adequate amounts then the plant thrives, if not the plant tells me and I add what it needs

maybe I'm looking at it wrong but this is basically how I grow, I guess instinctively would be the term

Schultz has no calcium and magnesium so I add 4 ml per gallon of Calimagic to every gallon, the only other additive has been
TM-7

I started using silica about a month ago, but she was already the plant she is now before the silica started

I add *1 gram of Epsom salt roughly every two weeks in bloom, nothing else

Edit: only *1/2 gram Epsom salt

i didnt say it was better. I said it worked better. Different fertilizers balance out better with different soils and water. They are not the same. One can have more amonium. One more nitrate. One is more acidic. One more basic. Etc.

the proper way to choose is with soil and water tests. Thats what university ag extensions are there for. To help our gardens. (For food production lol)

for some reason us pot growers dont tend to start with water testing. And i rarely see a soil test kit in a grow thread. We just feel it all out and tell our experiences. I get it. We are stoned.

I am pretty sure silica (dyna grow protekt) has made a big difference in my flowers. I am further testing this.

also the ozmocote at half the indoor directions is vegging a plant pretty nicely. I am comparing foliage pro to it hoping to mostly water only and just supplement with bottled stuff.

Don't diminish what you do man I've been watching your awesome grows for years, and I've been doing this a long time too, and I believe instinct & experience is nearly as, if not as important as genetics

I started this before the internet so I'm more about Instinct, & care less about testing this and that, because back then there was no way to test and no one to ask so you just had to figure it out

but I understand that type of thing is popular these days so to each their own but yeah Instinct in my opinion plays a huge roll, especially after you've been doing it for a minute

yeah I like the silica too and it's rare I add anything to my lineup but the silica stays in

Actually it's Plan B time LOL I usually cut plants when they come out of the dark period

So I couldn't cut her until 10 tonight and that's not going to happen so I'll probably stuff her in the drying closet just before lights on tonight

It's only 22 inch wide so it's going to be a challenge I'll keep a fan on her and chop her early ish, hasta manana Mazzy Star!

This is some info on the 20-20-20 Schulz GP product I use...
Beachwalker said:
Not exactly sure what you're asking but I can tell you that I grew this plant exclusively on that 20-20-20 and GH Calimagic, veg through bloom; I feed around 700-800ppm, and occasionally up to 1000ppm for a legitimate heavy feeder which are few and far between Imo, hope that helps

This is a cross I made recently, it's my first chuck since I quit growing in the mid-90s.

used a male GPS Gunslinger (stardawg×starfighter) & a White Rhino × Mazar mother, we're calling her Mazzy Star LOL! :)

Heres more, I forgot about her having all those clear pistils when she was dead ripe, although she doesn't have them now?? she's like a different plant

First run finished in 62 days, tomorrow when I chop it will be 75

(White Rhino×Mazar) × (Starfighter×Stardawg)

Despite all these white pistils this Mazzy Star is done! (I'm as surprised as you!?)

Day 62, very few clear, almost all cloudy and I would say 10 - 15% amber already

The first sample should be ready in a few days, hoping for good things and yes I see the two tiny nana's, I've pulled three off already but I think it might be summer heat related plus she's dead ripe..

..and I love the way this girl is stacked!:)

More Mazzy from last year, pic heavy

Beachwalker said:
So this is Mazzy Star's day! Her finishing early really changed things, I was desperately trying to make space because I wasn't expecting her for a more few weeks

I'm going to scope her again in a few minutes before any chopping because it's still hard for me to believe she's done with all these white pistils at 64 days today, but she is done, dead ripe too!

I even put 2 Black dogs in one pot for space, I'm going to dig them out today they've only been in about a week and still small-ish :/

This is the first cross I've made since 1995 and it feels good! :) I'm glad she came out as she did, I'm getting ready to stuff some of the sample into my bong right now, she should be dry enough to get a toke?! :)

She went into flower short, but she stayed short & she's going to be a dream to trim too!

Edit: So 3 Scopes and 20 minutes later she's dead ripe! sorry to repeat it but I can't believe it!? Only had a few hits, but I tasted the gunfighter

So this is about all I got on the run from last year but it's a lot of information!

..still have no idea why this time it's jet black and stinks to high heaven though??

Its fast hitting and very uplifting, going to light it up again in a half hour with coffee

My first impression, it tastes a lot like gunfighter, only it's not as strong of a chemmy flavor, the back flavor is the hashish taste from the mother, nice balance! :)

ROMBERRY

Topped 7 ish days ago

She's a magnesium pig, you can see a couple of tiger striped leaves on one or two on the bottom

I'm going to up her magnesium going forward to head that issue off, aside from that she's bulletproof and a pleasure to grow

Run off of the ffof was 1550ppm / 6.4 pH; needless to say she won't need anything but water for awhile LOL
