Yeah I definitely think you did really good on the defoliation but that makes sense, gotta make sure them fan leaves don’t cover anything and the branches go outwards more….. maybe something to think about if I ever try this, try keeping indicas with indicas and sativas with sativas or something lolol

I don’t think it’s too much of a matter indica / sativa / hybrid, it’s all just about training and cutting back, unless you’re dealing with landraces I wouldn’t sweat it, I think the biggest factor is a VERY large pot to plant size, I like to use organics so it’s nice to just have to feed once a month, I do use some fish fert etc randomly but on a long term veg scenario I think the stable feed from the living soil helps keep the plant at bay, im running 40% power in a SE3000 giving around 270ppfd, low intensity is key, keeps the plant from going into full out veg mode stable moisture levels and consistant feed and keeps the stress low

One reason I defol’d so hard was because I brought in 2 cuts from outdoors to graft on, so they got a SUPER heavy IPM regimen for 2 weeks straight as I had seen some stippling on the leaves, I suspected it was from the deadbug on the leaves in the light, but to make ease of monitoring I removed all leaves that were warped, stippled, damaged, so I can watch new growth and make sure it is handled properly, I scoped them and found nothing but keeping them clean and bug / PM free is extremly important on a long term mother

I’ve seen it around before so I knew it would work, learning the technique to keep em alive is kinda trial and error even following videos exactly but i so far have found that smaller grafts do better than large ones so I’ll experiment with that a bit again with the 2 new seedlings once I can grab a few nodes of each I’ll do 2 of each on her

I think she shaped up really nicely and she’s lookin nice 24 hours after the cut back

I haven't made the first cut yet but was wondering your thoughts on slicing off a quarter or half in diameter stem and injecting STS into the hollow stem and put back together, taped & splint if needed. Things that make ya go Hummm

I'm gonna give it a go just for laughs. I've tried injecting into that hollow but couldn't gauge the depth and wasn't able to inject into the plant. I gave it a try last year. Gave up before sticking the needle into my finger

I just topped a BBHP and that made ne think about it

Edit: if it worked one could make fem crosses on one plant

How about cutting though the stem vertically, open it up a shade and find the core and inject into the core. Use something. Like grafting tape or parafilm to seal the stem back up, super cheap on Amazon and works awesome

Max AC has been added

What’s up homies! Wanted to drop a hydra update! Little maintenance on the ol girl. About an 10-12” haircut, opened up around the Max AC now that it’s unbagged this past week and really showing she’s fully taken and is growing, opened the canopy a found it to let it start getting direct light and she’ll catch up quick to the rest. Great timing too, the copious is close to a cut point in the 4x4x for the AK47x Death Star and AK47 x The real sour comin up in the seedling tent and all 3 of them will be added shortly to the hydra!

She’s gunna make awesome clones when I need some of each strain, can probably get 4-5 off the plant of each graft this size after a good 3 week veg out (increased feed and light) besides that I give her mainlining light around 280-300ppfd water every 4 days. Every 4 weeks she gets 2 cups EWC, 1 cup craft blend, 6tbs Gaia green 4-4-4

These will be the next additions to the hydra!

Copious in the 4x4 = 2012 cement shoes x gary Payton x okie

Couple pics and a drunken tour of the back tents from 2 nights ago lol

Then the AK47 x the real sour and AK47 x Death Star, can’t wait to get em moved over into their 30’s In The 4x8, cover crop is coming up, get their moisture right and they were heavily amended before the cover crop was seeded, can’t wait to get em all veggin and grafts taken!

Hydra is doing great! Gave her a top dress of straw and she’s just been rockin it out, need to give some Gaia green in about 2 weeks might do it next week a shade early, Max AC is taken and is just starting to show new growth pushing now so that’s awesome

I have the AK47 x Death Star, AK47 x The Real Sour and Copious that all have to be grafted on, plan will be a quick veg of all the seed plants and get them into flower once I have a graft of each on the Hydra, as soon as they flip I’m starting a new Grafted plant, plan will be to get it to a small globe then do 3 grafts of each strain onto it, once they have established and are vegging nicely I’ll get it into the 30 gallon pot and flower her out

I’m considering Making 2 of them and sick run and having the keeper plant as well

Oh lookie

Found my tape

I can't let ya have all the fun

I've also got a lime tree that's never produced that I could (Oh yeah I could) splice on a branch to a Myers Lemon I got that's in a 15 gal pot producing lemons for a couple years.

I bought the tape for shit like this:

but I couldn't find the tape when this happened but this GDP didn't miss a beat. Amazing plant

So anyway I'm shooting for New Year's Day or sooner. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try.

Mother's Milk
Blueberry Hash Plant
Granddaddy Purple
Gelato 33

I've got a g33

that should be a perfect "mom."

Thanks Man

I know, huh? What's it gonna do? And all the different strains, do they keep their usual flowering time frame or will the "parent plant" affect that timing in any way? And that of course goes for all the different strains and their normal flowering times.

THIS is when growing becomes FUN

How about grafting on a male?

THIS is what happens to my brain when not smoking or drinking

Found my grafting tape but I don't have many vegging plants I can experiment with today. Still thinking about this craziness. Ya never know

If you put a rock wool cube around the graft then wrap it in plastic you'll get much more reliable grafts 90%>

Kinda treat it like a clone then after it has fused remove the plastic and the roots will dry out and wither.

I've always thought grafting and cloning, while on the plant, were super cool techniques. Looking good!
