Look at this stallion - 1 male plant (mystery/goldengate haze) with my 4 agent orange clones. Hes like 3 times the size, about to hit the roof of my porch - crazy.

It's amazing how tall they can grow. Are you going to get rid of it before it pollinates?

Nope, Im making seeds from all my outdoors this season. I had actually planned on spraying some STS - which would usually be better and make almost 100% female seeds - but then this guy popped up and saved me some trouble. Better for my purposes anyway, to have a male/female seed mix.

When do you think I can consider his job done? Hes been flowering a few pods at a time for a week now and hes right next to the females.
Do I need to/should I try to help him out?
I have another plant Id like to move outside before the end of the season and Id prefer to get rid of the male before I do.

Just grab the fucker and shake him a bunch, dude
But before you do that, get you some parchment paper and a brush and knock some of that pollen off and put it in an airtight container and keep it

I had to cut the top off an OG Kush fem today. It's inside in a 5 gal bag on a vivosun self-watering base and grew so fast it was crazy and unexpected. I topped it rather late in the game but it kept on going. It was eye level to me and I can't get the light any higher. Knowing what I know now I'd have been topping/training early on but I'm still at rookie level here.

For my indoor plants - I usually leave them intact - cut my lights to 12/12 when the plant is halfway to the lights highest point. Theyll continue to grow for a few weeks after - depending on strain, but they usually stop before they hit the light (not always)
I havent had much luck with making large cuts on my plants - seems to really piss em off every time. Too late and the plant reverts (end up with extra leaves growing inside the buds) too early and itll double all its stems and leaves - making a million tiny buds instead of a few big ones.
I just leave them alone now.

Yeah it was my first time trying the self water bases, the two I grew last year didn't shoot up anything like these two did. The only other option would have been to take it outside but it's brutal hot out there and I don't know if this string bean would have been able to handle it. It has a sister been outside since the get go that is a lot shorter and bushier.
Overall this crap is all pretty new for me.

Had to move him off the table but seems like hes done growing up - 8.5 feet tall in a 6 gallon pot, something like 16 weeks old. Ive collected some pollen already but its not easy to catch the pods at the right time (they dont all open together) and the pollen is super fine, disperses easily - so as soon as its open the wind takes it all.

(My apologies to any other outdoor growers in my neighborhood)

Well, job done I think - most of the clones branches have obvious seeds starting. Looks like theyre really concentrating on building the seeds first (not surprising) but hopefully throughout the season theyll continue to build some bud (id like to get something smokable out of it) theres a few months left in the season here. Who knows, could go well in to november like last year.

im tempted to chop the male now (he drinks 2 gallons a day) but I may let him go a little longer - make sure I get a good amount of seeds. He is no where near finished flowering.

Pretty good - I grew them all last winter indoors, then took some clones for this seasons outdoors (as part of my breeding plans)

Got some of your strawberry cough in the tents (looking real good) planning to use the pollen from this outdoor male for another interesting cross. Moster at almost 5 weeks old.

Next stage is Green Crack (also yours) but thatll probably be next summers indoor crop.
Thanks

It's rediculus that you let a male grow outside. If i would be your neighbor, we had a big ,big Problem. Stop being fucking selfish. The fucking pollen can easily spread a Mile or two. STOP DOING SHIT LIKE THAT. When I look at that Asparagus looking plant, it is clear you have no clue what you are doing. That is the shittiest Male I've ever seen and it belongs in the trashcan.

Ive got my own plans - a tall male served my purposes. I have said more than once - Im not a pro, just conducting my own experiments.

Sorry I made you sad bro, have a better day.

I would not have said it so harshly, but getting pollinated by your neighbors male plant a mile or more away would suck. Bees travel quite far from what I understand. Your experiment is usually conducted in a closed indoor environment. That being said, happy growing!

Yeah, Ive got limited room indoors - definitely not the 10' or more this guy wouldve needed.

I think this type of "issue" is probably gonna become more common with legalization - as more people start growing. And if you want 100% control of your plants - youll have to grow in a tent. Otherwise, things could happen, even just accidentally.

Every adult growing 3 adult plants, theyve got free will and their own plans.

Or you could think of it as a positive - maybe you end up with some interesting new genetics for free?
