I always cut the bottom 20-30% and buds bigger than a pinprick smaller than a thumb from tip to knuckle.

I just cut off the ones that are blocking the light from the bud sites. But I’m the last person you want to listen to!
depends how big the growing space is I think? My tents are tiny, so too many fan leaves just makes it overcrowded. And the buds lower buds don’t get enough light.
Everyone says different things and has their own way of doing it.
I think defoliation should be done around day 20 in one fell swoop, then just leave it. Don’t keep trimming bits here n there.

Imo dont. Rather tuck than defo. You can cut sides but fanleaves bring fuel. Only trim what brings problems like moisture pockets, dead leaves or when they cover top buds and there's really no other choice. Leave what you can.

Not at the same time. Over it's life. My fault for not clarifying.

I don't take off many leaves, but I do remove lower buds that won't grow much and will keep the upper ones from growing larger.

Are you running a deficiency, feel like that's what's slowly building there

I used to defoliate my autos a lot because sometimes you just have to if you want to get that maximum amount of light penetration, I only defoliate if it’s really needed, since the plant needs all the energy it can get and it’s slower recovery rate. Yea I would say it works for me just don’t over do it. Also each auto responds different, at least in my experience.

I usually let them heal after a few days to a week until I defoliate again, just make sure you’re cutting the most important leaves that need to go. I remember I topped a cheese auto and it stunted on me instantly and went into flower at like week 3

No, no. This is an old picture. I grew these with cheap multipurpose compost and fed them with nothing but bio bloom. was a nice smoke though. (auto cheese)

I had one freak and early flower, an NL #5, I dropped it and broke off roots. But yes it was awesome like super concentrated flavor but regular buzz, I think it flowered at week 4 lol. I've had two other mishaps, both branch snapping, both healed like it never happened.
