I just found a Thrip. Never found one before either... but they are native and you might have dragged one in from outside. I am using Azamax (spray at 1 tbsp/gal) and Spinosad (spray). Spinosad is particularly recommended for Thrips. However, if you are deeper into flowering I would only use predatory insects, ladybugs might be effective but I haven't looked into it as I found my Thrip in veg, luckily.

Spinosad works great for thrips and some forms like the monterrey are OMRI certified. We use it outdoors with good results.

Just doing some research and predatory nematodes can be used to kill eggs/larvae in soil, so I will use them too. Local shops keep them in stock.

I've never found the larva on a plant, read somewhere they only come out at night. The neighbor has a thrip ridden tree I'd like to chop down. Its too big or I'd be really tempted to spray it with spinosad some night.

You ought to look into getting some systemic pesticide to dose the tree with. Bayer makes a great tree and shrub systemic. It is NOT OMRI.......

Ya, good idea. Not sure what kind of tree it is, but its just starting to leaf out. I should probably ask, tell them the bugs are going to eat all of my arugula or nasturtiums or something.

Thrips prefer the taste of clover. Grow it from seed (otherwise, you're running the chance of introducing MORE thrips) and they'll migrate to your clover patch. Then bomb your clover with whatever you want, unless you plan on smoking it, too.

Trap plants ftw!

+ one for spinosad if your in veg. If your in flower pray... they will build little houses in your buds and it doesnt matter what you spray they will be protected by the bud houses that you grew for them.

Yep, them flitterin leaf chewin bastages... Spinosad took them down, but you gotta hit every single plant a couple times. We hit veg 3 times I think and always before something rolled to flower room.

One day we noticed that we hadn't seen any for a long while.

Spinosad is benign enough you could probably drink the bottle... but i wouldn't recommend it.
