Sorry to double post, but while I remember to ask, when do you guys cut your root booster in flower? I'm currently using BioRoot and just got to thinking about it and was wondering if it's really necessary all the way through? NPK is 1-1-1, real low ppm value. Also, what is a salt alternative to a substance like this?

Well I'm not an expert, but in my mind a badazz rootball is established primarily in veg. Not to say at 12/12 roots dont continue to reach out. But I'm thinking that once the plant goes into flower/survival mode it spends most of its energy creating and building flowers or seeds whatever the case may be. So why would I spend more dinero on root stimulants. The key to good root structure is longer veg times/larger containers or outdoor planting and using root stimulants during early to mid stage veg phase.

Did that make sense to anyone but me...... o_O Sounded good from my house. LOL..... But then I am pretty toasted.:p

Lol right there with you @jumpincactus. Your assumption sure stands to reason in my eyes. They definitely have an excellent root structure, going to have to step feedings up to 3x a day because 2 times isn't enough for them solo cups. But I'm quickly running out of BioRoot at this rate and got to thinking, well is it even necessary at this stage? If I can open up 50 ppm more, then hell yeah I'm game for that.

Hope everyone at the farm has a great Labor day weekend! I'll be staying blazed on some Alien OG. Heading to the bar to smash some shiners and attempt to smoke a j on the patio. Might have to do the vape pen instead. Anyways, hope everyone has at least a freakin bowl or something to smoke on! Wish this wasn't cyber world and we could all meet up and blaze the hell out, share stories and vibe. Keep it high

Bored!

Had 3/3 on the TE germs, but then I went full retard and somehow dropped one (12hrs after transfer to pot from paper towel). I got to watch it 1080 on it's way down spewing dirt in a line. First thought was, man, it's prolly broken. Two hours of sifting through loose media with water and I never even found the darn thing....Bah. So, ... 2 TE's helmets off and gettin their land legs.

Grabbed a piece of bull to enjoy and tried to get a closeup. no tripod I guess.

With the CMH idea.... I did have 2 6's but switch one (1st 6wk) to a 6/750. Still waitin on another from local store. Have toyed with the idea of CMH for last 4wks. I'd prolly need 2 for that 4x4 section right? I liked the spread increase with the 6/750 and was looking forward to more cross light spread from the second. I wonder if I would need 2 cmh to still get good cross lighting outside the 4x4? Seems like a 6/750 would beat a 315, or what? Though it seems the spectral advantage, specially late would be nice with CMH....dunno ramble ramble.

Run bio root for two weeks or three if at all. U don't need it in bloom but it's fine to use. Imo the best root boost is rootamentary. Made by the same people who make sea green. But honestly Bennie teas are the best things for ur roots man. Be it og special sauce or just a casting tea. Hard to beat that.

@Tnelz once again thanks for dropping some wisdom on me! I'm just thinking for when I move over to Jack's what I'm going to use on that front. Fully salt based with eventual plans to get into sterile hydro, so figure while staying in coco get used to doing things that route. BioRoot has been great, awesome supplement, but I'm getting into the more technical aspects of all this and it's time to figure out that next move. You know, spending money before it's in my hand lol

@tobh bro the three best products money can buy imo are 1 pure protein hands down one of the best items in my arsonal. 2 og special sauce or caps Bennies the best Bennie product period. Both of these used together are incredible. Bot as root drench and foliar last and certainly not least is full power and I'd ad slf100 as well. Add any of those to any nutrient program as well as foliar and u will thank me later. Respect and good vibes!

@ Tobh, most the root stuff we use is organic based and intended to stimulate changes within the plant; rather than its' direct NPK relation. I'm not sure if there is a "chemical" equivalent to those.

With rooting, I totally agree with Jumpincactus as all my research in this area does suggest that yield will be more based on existing roots vs roots produced in bloom (note "bloom" in this case, is when meristem cells change, I.e. 2wks after 12/12 +/-).

Back when I used to do things "Wrong". I always vegged in these translucent containers that are 16oz and used to go straight into 1.5 gallon pots on the day of 12/12. Roots were always fully developed in the pot at end and (more or less) yield was the same after going to larger veg (1 ltr) and veggin' in the 1 gallons a week before bloom. I don't do trees either.

I guess I run my Veg mix with root stuff and Si until week 2.5-3 I suppose. Just happens that way, heh.

Y'all answered too fast....Again! :D:D

How are beneficials impacted in a sterile environment? Just out of curiosity, if I need to search I will lol. Also, when using Jack's and beneficials, is there a decrease in microbe populations due to the already available salts?

Cap has stated that the bennies are mostly safe in salts and can be put in a rez. Guess a large portion will die after X time in soil; whether organic or sterile.

edit: what would you define as "sterile" in this case also?

Completely salt based nutrients, sealed RDWC or UC type system. Probably including something like bleach or h202 in the nutrient solution. You know, the kind of system that causes many new comers headaches lol

cool. yeah they won't last as long in that setup. The smaller portion is from less available food; larger portion would be from sterilization. If you are running a controlled level of Cl; you may want to drop it a bit before each bennie addition. 2ppm Cl "could" wipe a good percentage out fairly quickly and just would mainly end up reducing your Cl level.

Sooo as always there is a ton aof great information to be learned just by skimming the recent few pages! So growing outdoors you kinda gotta guess how long youve been in flower huh? I mean bc you know when you begin seeing flowers but they obvi have been for a bit before that too..I'm bringing that up bc I got those Anbessa Nutrients in and it seems pretty solid. I got clone powder, transplant powder, a veg tea and veg foliar then I got a 3 stage bloom tea and 3 stage bloom foliar!..I would not normally foliar past week 1 or 2 in flower, something about wetting on purpose some big fat looking buds. It says on there to foliar daily for days 1-14 on the first, days 15-45 on the second and etc...I've seen some super fire greens grown with this so it will be cool to see how they run on my next indoor cycle coming up!
Also @Tnelz at what dosage do you use Massive at? I know it says 20ml/gallon on the back but I am assuming to start off a lil light and build up but I figured I'd ask....

The microbes don't die necessarily. They will still function and produce healthy roots. Just won't have much to do as far as feeding ur plant. Also they will help with things like root rot and slime as wellweEspecially slf100. However if by sterile u mean hydrogen peroxide well they don't function there. They die. So if u r choosing to run sterile then Bennies have zero function.

Just out of curiousity, would Bennies have a function in a sterile scenario via foliar? Peace

@toby nope I run jacks+bennies. Salts won't negatively impact unless you run tons of K. Which would kill your plants faster than the microbes
