But for the gnats, I think I've come to the realization that I just can't use store bought organic soil. 3 different bags I've tried now, each one, has fungus gnats.
Which makes sense, because in my own compost pile, the are FG's everywhere. I don't know why I thought it would be different with store bought.
Are those pots worth all the effort? I suppose once you have them, you want to use them...

in my opinion i prefer the smart pots because of the mesh. The air pots are great... I absolutely stand behind smart or air pots over your common plastic containers.
Truthfully top dress DE will help a lot
