I have been using Protekt for about 4 years. Dynagro Protekt is Potassium Silicate and I use 1ml per gallon every feeding. I switched to Cyco Silica that is monosilicic acid and I use 1ml per gallon.

Im not sure if this stuff is really strong but since I have been using the Cyco, my plants have been really brittle. They will snap branches and stalks easily. I had a fungi about the same time I switched to the Cyco so Im not sure if the Silica is the problem or not?

Have any of you noticed anything like this?

When adding potassium silicate your plants should get the opposite of brittle. Cyco is decent stuff.

I use silica 1-2 x per week max. Don't know if that helps. I use fasilitor as well

My buddy told me too much will make your plants brittle. With Aptus, its only used once a week at a very low dose. Fasilitor has monosilicic acid in it also.

I run:
Heavy 16 A+B (very happy with it)
Heavy 16 Prime (Really GOOD stuff)
Cyco Silica (unsure how i like it)
Heavy 16 Roots (Comparing it to 4 other root enhancers) (Not looking like the winner)
Super Thrive (Good stuff)
Sea Green (Foliar only) (Good stuff)

try not to get confused over regular Potassium Silicate and monosilicic acid. Monosilicic acid is potassium silicate once it is in water at a PH above 4 and below 8. It sounds fancy...but it's the same thing.

I don't think the heavy 16 roots is the same as any other root enhancer. I use the product with every feeding. As a microbial rooting product I use Aptus startboost. Bruce said they don't have microbial life in their product and that should be added. The roots is really more just a salt profile to support root growth.

Also i don't believe K2O3Si is anything like H4O4Si. Totally different chemicals.

Are the leaves looking different than normal? Good indicator of infection.

I ran yellow bottle silica since 2012 and now run AgSil and have always had tremendously strong plants, including the branches, with no additional stretch.

Same thing is happening to me! I thought I wasn't adding enough though. When I went to super crop my ladies where stiff as fuck. they didn't want to bend w/out snapping. I just flushed and stopped using it.

Heavy 16 Roots
GH Rapid Start
Pure Essentials Root Enhance
House &Garden Roots Excel

Super Thrive actually works well and the old Roots Excel formula kicked ass but is gone forever. Pure Essentials Root Enhance is kicking everythings ass according to the homie but I need to see for myself. Im currently testing the Heavy 16 Roots. I use Caps bennies, so no need to add any extra bennies.

Were you using the Cyco?

I think it works great but 1ml I hear once a week is the max. All i know is the dyno grow silica didnt do this.

I use Aptus Fasilitor & EcoZen twice weekly with feedings at recommended dosage. 1/4" and 3/8" stems just need some serious squeezing before I can bend them. But they only snap if I'm not gentle or don't squeeze hard enough. Tomorrow's set will get the plyers on the way into flower. Also using heavy 16 full lineup. But that's it. No other additives. Compost tea between each feeding.

Use a penny/coin to break the tissue befrore you bend then work it, she will obey the ladies loved to be bound and gaged lol.
Trust me it works. Ive overcome this many times.

is a bit different. He are saying brittle. Your plant sounds like it was nice and hearty imo, which is what you want so your ladies can hold there weight stack a bit more in ther own.

So what is it exactly, some pics maybe? I cant picture what you mean by brittle? I mean tough is tough. Or are we tslking shit breaking during routine physical inspections of the plant? I use silica blast a always have, at 1tsp. P.gal. makes my girls strong, and even a little drought resistant. Especially on those hot days when i grew OD. Ive never had a problem. i usually cut it around week 6 or so on a 9 week strain.

Ill keep an eye here see what happens with it.
Happy farmin;)

Broski I'm pretty sure cyco silica plain old potassium silicate. Only difference between it and dyna grow is cyco is more watered down. 3% potassium silicate to dyna grows 7% and like double the price.

I used fasilator for maybe 2 weeks and didn't see a difference between the plants that got it and the ones getting plain silliapca. Maybe I didn't use it long enough. I'll probably try again some time.

@KitsapGrapeApe next time you do use the aptus fasilitor try bending a brand and see if you notice the same thing happening to you also.

@ohgee kush I use Fasilitor regularly, I use it as directed, then I do a triple dose weekly the first 3 weeks of flower, then reduce it to recommended rates...I also stop using it 3-4 weeks before harvest
I don't seem to be having any issues using it like this, and I do LST plants regularly.......

Interesting,I just went to check and see if I can feel any difference between the plants I have under 1000 watt DE's and the ones under 1000 watt Horti's
I really can't tell much difference, but they are all only a week or so into flower,I'll keep checking them the next couple of weeks as they get the triple dose of Fasilitor
