I'm not a fan of either. Creates a massive energy draw on the plants. If your lacking in anything you ussually end up with spindly nuggets. Also creates a ton of Chafe sites that are pretty much useless. Did I mention the energy ineffeciency. I manifolded for optimum size, thickness and potency. No chafe or wasted energy. Yes it cost me a month of time bud I more then make up for it with weight and potency. Just my opinion. Fully respect all methods. Time and place for everything I suppose.

Not the case at all mate..i dont know where your getting your info from as its far from the truth brother..checkout some 2+ p plants ive grown from tipping the plant..theres heaps on here that do it dude.mainlinings and scrog all start from tipping a plant to create the end product..
@Dstyles997 Its what you do after topping the plant to create the final shape you want..training is the key

Why fim? You'll wind up with 4 tops if you leave them alone. Only the leaves on the fimmed plant are damaged due to nipping them in half.

No argument here my friend. As I stated to each is own. I respect all methods. I myself prefer to manifold my plants. I have to consider mold and PM so big leafy ladies are a big problem. I need a very clean, well fed and suplemented plant. Too many seasons washing my buds at harvest. I like 16 or 32 clean dense nuggets. Just my preference.

Supposed to keep topping into a bush full of even tops. Takes time like any training technique.

For short veggers i suggest bending the main stem to promote branching during stretch in 12/12.

The lower pic is a Sweet tooth that was 3 months before I turned it, I took.over 100 tops off. The upper pic was a Cherry Bomb that was 4 months old before I turned it. I end up doing this because of space and timing. I don't really do it on purpose. When my flower room is full I end up vegging plants I have no room to turn and to keep them short, ( I only had 5ft under the light ) I had to top and top just to keep them under my height limit. It ends up giving me some nice short plants.

I now have a new problem I created. I've been too busy to deal with my plants properly and I was unable to turn this crop until the 90f & 95% humidity was over for the year. I had to relocate and It gave me an 8 ft ceiling so I got lazy and didn't top. I now have 4 - 7ft plants indoors because I didn't top enough. I started these plants at the end of March & they're now 1 week into flowering.

I've had issues with certain genetics fimming, and in that case I go with the more traditional topping.

I topped this plant at the 5th node, then topped it again, then topped it again... so I will get 8 main colas on the top.

I also topped the 4th nodes. is there a such thing as too much?

Now let them grow out for another 7-10 days before you find more tops to take. After that you'll be seeing more to take weekly if you want more tops that is.

I tie the branches down in a circle around the pot to expose more inner growth and to spread them out. The big ones I've sometimes use a lattice of bamboo sticks to spread them out and support but they rip the shit out of my panda plastic frames so I'm getting away from that now.
