Hello All,

I have enjoyed lurking on this site and trying to learn a bit. So much to learn. I have some 8 day old seedlings and have no clue if I am screwing them up. This is my first attempt at growng. I think I have read too much info and overloaded my weak little brain. I am growing inside a 4x4 grow tent with 2 circulation fans and a 6" inline exhaust fan. I have a 200 watt Vivo Sun Aerolight. I have it set at 100 watts and about 16" away from top of plants 18on/6 off.. Temps in the day average about 75 degrees with 55-65 RH. Night temps are usaully around 67-68 degrees with RH dropping to 50-55. I planted in Fox Farms Ocean Forest and have added zero nutrients. I believe I overwatered in the beginning but I am slowly figuring it out....I think. Can someone please take a look at these photos and let me know if they are ok? I am second guessing myself at every turn with lighting power/distance and watering! Thank you all.

I failed to add that these are all photoperiod seedlings. Northern Dawn-Sativa Fruity Pebbles OG-Hybrid and White Truffle Ice Cream-Indica heavy Hybrid.

Looking like it's off to a great start! I'm an outdoor grower and only use indoor for supplemental light so I have nothing to really offer up on tent environment. Those pots are pretty big so be careful when you're watering. I'll typically use a spray bottle to do the watering of seedlings, with the nozzle set to stream and spraying in a circle around the plant at the drip line and watering outward from there until a couple drops start coming out the bottom. Controlling the volume, frequency and placement location are key. A spray bottle will offer that.

Sounds like you're keeping an eye on stuff like light distance and that's great. If you haven't already done so, you might check the light's specs as to what kind of light energy (umols) you are getting of each wavelength at varying distances. This is pretty handy as well as remembering 2-4-6-8. For light intensity, 200 for seedlings, 400 for young plants, and 600-800 for mature plants.

I saw your second post too. What do you want to know. Personal experience, sativa’s are usually to high for the tent, unless you LST them heavily.

Welcome to the farm! Your seedlings look great! As mentioned above just mind the waterings in the first few weeks.

Also in my experience seedlings seem to be pretty resilient to drought but really really sensitive to too much water! : )

Couple observations and grain of salt advice. I start photos is clear cups nested into solo cups. Simply slip the clear cup up to monitor root development after about a week. From there into a 1 gallon ish pot. When roots start peeking out the drain holes (about a week to ten days), the final pot is a 5 gallon fabric. The roots appreciate the fabric. No swirling root bound issues. Oversized pots in early growth are difficult to water properly. If need be, can water out from the stem to hopefully tease the roots to reach out in search of water. I'd recommend getting the photone app to measure lighting. It helps take some mystery out of it as long as it's calibrated to your specific light (at 100%). It will measure PPFD, DLI, and other units but the first two are all that's needed. I prefer DLI but that's just me. Getting the lighting right or close to it is important. Only other thing I would say is try to avoid loving them to death. Check back often to learn topping and training techniques to manage shape and increase yields.
