Outdoor I usually grow dozens of different strains, and make some hybrds, than the next season i do the same thing and grow out some of the hybrids I made to observe them and see how they do outdoors. Take my notes, than do the same thing the next season.. I might end up just popping 15-20 different seeds this winter, as i want to mother out some plants for spring. I lost all of my seeds after the raid last summer, but Im slowly getting some new stock to work with.
