Trim standing plant before harvest cutting?

Has anyone heard of this or done this?
Wet trim the plant while it's still standing in the ground, just before cutting.
It seems like a handy way to trim as you have 2 hands free.

I take all the fan leaves off before cutting.

It was a nice plant, all smoked up and gone now. Cherry Bomb..5 months old.
