I have a question please :
If I am growing indoors would it be advisable to have lights stagger the on/off time? If one light comes on 2 hours before the other AND goes off 2 hours later will this emulate the sun rising & setting? In other words the light intensity will be greatest at mid timer but less so at the beginning and end of the timer on time.

Your overthinking it imo

In reality I don’t see any benefit to doing that

All the best bud

It's impossible to emulate the intensity of the sun, with artificial lighting.
I bet a lot of us have looked into this, but I'm sticking with the same mouse trap and wheel that's been used for many years.

Reduction in DLI will result in reduced plant growth.

Friends don't let friends reduce light energy during veg.
There are some promising studies about red light shifting that mimics the red shift from sunup for a bit and then sundown.
I have reduced buth temp and light at the tail end of flower and the end of day to get a slow plant to get over itself and die already.

X-4 on the light deal.
I read about reducing light at the end of flower. I decided to try it on the BB auto I'm hoping to harvest soon. I'm in the 2nd week of reduced light wattage (same 20hrs/day) BUT I felt like I only had about a week before harvest. I feel like my trichomes are actually slowing down!

Simulating the sun is a real thing but is usually done through light tracks that move through an arc throughout the day. The two light solution you're thinking of won't buy you anything but there is a potential benefit for powering down a light for 15 minutes after 6 hours of use to extend the life of the light, according to some manufacturers. So if you have a brand that needs the cooling off, having two of them ensures the light cycle isn't interrupted, there's just 2 15 minutes periods of dimmer light. You might have seen lights with far red and far blue toggles. Not talking about a blurple light... I mean the ones that have full spectrum PLUS a little extra oomf in the red and blue spectrums. If you have one of these, you can toggle the far blue for 1-2 hours in the morning and toggle red for the last 15-20 minutes before lights go out it is supposed to help the plant transition better between the day and night cycles, transition to flower smoother and even some claims it'll ramp up the THC.
