Hi all,

Keeping this short, when I grow it prevents me from taking short trips or vacations. Basically, I'm stuck home while I'm growing for 3-4 months.

Is there an affordable automatic watering system that I can use to water while I'm away? I grow one plant at a time in soil and water every 3-4 days... I'm looking for a system that I can set to water once while I'm away, maybe with a some type of a timer and valve that opens?

Any tips greatly appreciated !

I fill a five gallon bucket with water and have a small pump in it. It goes to a small sprinkler system. I trigger the pump from my acinfinity model 69 controller. I use a eco wit moisture meter. When the moisture gets low I trigger my pump and it waters five gallons of water. That will get me a few days.

Vivosun do an all in one grow box, retails for something like $500. Complete overkill for one plant, but as you're not going to be there it might be worth looking into, or a cheaper alternative. https://vivosun.com/vivosun-smart-grow-box

Thanks, I'll check this out. I was hoping for something a little more simple but this could work and I've considered using the ac infinity controllers. (I use an AC infinity fan)

Found this... It has a soil moisture meter and waters when the soil is dry. This is better than using a timer?

I bought this drip irrigation kit to keep my ladies refreshed while I'm away, only took about 20 minutes to set up and it works great. It's currently $42.99 on Amazon. It comes with a timer so you can set it up to water on whatever schedule you want:

Nice !!! This may allow me to start a grow now, I'm running out of weed for the first time in years. (been a year or so since my last grow)..

I have a vacation coming up in April, for a week. I only need it to water one time while I'm away. This will do the trick !

Only thing I like about the system I'm showing above is that it has moisture rods that go into the soil. It waters when dry and stops when wet.....

Appreciate the tip !

Letpot drip system works fantastic for me. Controlled by you on your phone and saved my vacation with my lady, otherwise plant would have died while i was gone for a week

That was essentially all I needed it for for my vacation - and I came back to some really happy plants. The one you posted that waters when it detects the soil to be of a certain moisture content is definitely interesting for sure

Brother I am in the same boat the way I grow, perhaps worse. I do container growing and I move my plants around throughout the day for maximum sun, as well as a couple hours of supplemental light in the shed through short winter days and the autos I have that say in longer. When I so much as head out in the late afternoon to go to a concert for the evening I have to leave detailed instructions for my wife or adult daughter what goes where, and when. The supplemental lights are automatic so they just need to move them, but if someone moves a plant to the wrong zone at the wrong time the whole grow operation would be screwed.

I have been thinking about trying to make something like this. Over the last year I have become a “water application SNOB” i only want to water in by hand and with my 1L water bottle with a hole in the lid! hahah. I guess for one watering to give you some time away from the plants is ok? do you feel they suffer at all or any “hiccups” after that style of watering? im in the same boat as @longbottom I just want a couple days to go camping or even just get out of town : ) and was always worried a “simple” watering set up wouldn’t suffice

They are badass! They are really friendly when you use their brand equipment. You can totally hook other brands and units up to be able to control though through the controller using the correct connections and splitters! ACI has “smart plugs” that go right into the controller for the units that can be just turned on and off (they dont control rates or speeds).

Big camper here as well ! It's painful to worry about my plants though.. I take my boy fly fishing and camping often, the grow thing gets in the way and I worry...

Cool thing about these auto feeders is that if they work well, I might not need to open my cabinet for weeks... Less door opening = less risk of pests...

Now we need an auto "burper" for the first few weeks of cure... thats another problem I have when vacation pops up.. I love growing but feel trapped as well....

Look into the “govida” bags. They may do that for you, im not sure though. I know a lot of folks here use them or something similar when “curing”.

Im planning on shutting the entire shit show down this summer for a month or two even! I just need to time it right for what’s flowering now and what I plant to add to that. Man what an awesome camping trip not having to worry about the grow at home : )

are you located in the US? i live around some world renowned fly fishing spots! i mean their not in my back yard but im within a few hours or so : )

I'll check out the Govida bags, sounds like Boveda which I use for long cure (after RH settles to around 60 in the jar)...

I'm in Virginia, we have some wild Brookies in the Shenandoah, but its too hot for trout anywhere else due to heat... (They need oxygen and cool water, mountain streams coming from springs is the only place they can live here...)

I'm watching Yellowstone on Peacock now... Its a show with Kevin Costner out in Montana.... God I'd love to fish those big wide open streams and rivers...

Nice, I've made quite a few trips to Cali for business. Also lived in Napa and Vollejo when I was a kid. I'm an east coast guy, love the green, but I must admit California is very pretty too. Desert mountains hitting the ocean is not something we see on the east !

Funny how fire is no big deal in your state, I was driving along roads that were on fire and nobody acted as if anything was wrong... Seems to me fire is more common than rain !

Edit" I probably shouldn't say fire is no big deal, I think you know what I meant...
