just getting my feet wet with VB Dirty using RO in peat. Anybody know the rub on why directions suggest starting with .2-.3 EC water? Does the stuff not mix well in O EC or does it not contain enough Cal? Trying to justify pre-charging the RO with CalMag or hanging up the RO for a dechlorinator.
@Rootbound or whoever RO and No Cal?
I just use a dechlorinator myself,no issues.just getting my feet wet with VB Dirty using RO in peat. Anybody know the rub on why directions suggest starting with .2-.3 EC water? Not sure i have seen where it says that at. I will take a look at my tub. Are you sure they dont mean start off with no more than .2/.3 ec?
That sounds great Fish..I'm a bit concerned about cysts and ph buffers that are added to the tap..needed to hear people having success. My tap comes out at .3 EC..not quite sure how a de-chlorinator will affect that..but I'm slowly convincing myself to try it out. This powder is exactly the change up I've been looking forI just use a dechlorinator myself,no issues.
roger that..ya low EC solution is a bitch to PH..have to use drops to adjust..makes perfect sense thanks. It was hard to wrap my head around needing Cal or Mag when there is so much listed already. I'm a loyal aact user so looks like de-chlorinator will be my best bet..maybe add UV..not sureYou can use 0ppm ro but the ph is more stable with some residual alkalinity. Fertilizers are acidic so it helps keep your media ph in range.
It's gonna be Ro for a week or 2 at least. I'll do some experimenting. My usual is to pump ave of 65-72 degree tepid water over to flower room and mix up and feed. I use it all up and don't store nutrient solution. I like to float in between 6 and 6.5 for peat. I'll be sure and give it a good 15 minutes and observe the swing. Thanks for the input!Whatever water quality you choose you have to mix, agitate, pH to around 5.8 and stabilize for 15-30 minutes. The pH swings in that first 15 minutes in a warm room so keep temp in mind.
Each solution mixed is good for about a week.been checking in on this thread every now and again. Been thinking on giving this stuff a go round but I have a couple questions for y'all before I commit so sorry for throwing the wrench in the machine. My question isn't does it work y'all crushing that's a fact.
So here we go... Been running doseatrons for a minute now and the ease and covience I don't think I can go back. So can you mix this powder into a bottle so I can easily run it through my dosers? Also I don't need to ph currently and don't really want to make expensive changes to my system.
I'm pretty sure Chris recommends not making a stock solution because of potential fallout, not because of microbials. I forget who it was, but someone on here was playing around with making stock solutions a while back. You may want to read through the thread to see who it was to see if it worked out for them. Thanks smokey but that ends my desire to use it. If they recommend not making a liquid concentrate and I now see it has some living stuff in there probably why. It seems to be the hot ticket but like I said the doseatrons are my favorite thing so I'll leave you guys to crushing it with that powder I'll keep on paying the bills with my mills simply cause it comes in a bottle. I keep mine in a 3 gallon bucket with a Gamma Seal lid. Like this......just an observation..this stuff is highly hygroscopic. I'm gonna ziplock baggie what I think I'll use weekly. Scoop will turn dark sitting in open air. How is everyone else storing?
..still loving it
