Veg (deficiency, disease, or excess?)

Back with yet another issue in my Veg room!

My plants have been green as grass up until week 2-3 of veg. At that time they have started to show leaf burn (almost like a Mg deficiency) and yellowing from the bottom half up.

We just fed these ladies at 1.2 ec with the Lotus Grow food with RO water this time around.

We have been using well water which we think is to blame for these issues. We normally just flush with our RO filtered water but we’ve noticed a lot more green showing up.

Has anyone here experienced this same issue using well water or maybe even just tap water in general? Thanks!

What's your and input and output ph? same thing with output EC?

Those are water spots from the well water. Switching waters can flip a plant out so if you change water do it slowly over a period of time.

I knew I missed something, I do have runoff values noted down here.

Past few days they’ve only received water, light feedings of lotus grow food when ec drops below 0.8

Lights at 350W, 8-10” off plant canopy.

Input: 6.5 pH 0.2 ec (well water)
Runoff: 5.9-6.0 pH 0.4-0.8 ec

Note: I lift my plants while my runoff drips into my drip pan, and clean them in-between tests.

Yesterday we fed the veg room at 6.3 / 1.2 with lotus grow food and pure RO water.

Unfortunately the plants do not seem to be taking it well even though they are below that 0.6-0.8 threshold and show signs of deficiency. I was not able to snap a photo as we harvested today but the plants are drooping, not wilting, they look as if they are asleep even with the lights on.

The bedrock in your region determines which minerals you have in your well. Calcium. Magnesium etc. You have a well water analysis or at home test kit?

The neon green growth, close internodal spacing, general appearance of junked down / cold (not actually cold I’m sure your temp is fine).
my guess that brown spot on the lower leaf is the plan starting to eat itself, transferring nutrients from one part of the plant to another.
do you have topical sprinkle on fertilize?

yeah were gunna need more info unless you want a thread of useless guesses....also well water is the BEST water you could use IMO unless your area has some crazy levels of stuff, whats the PPM or EC of well?

1. Are you growing from seed or clones?
2. How old are your plants?
3. How tall are your plants?
4. What size containers are they planted in?
5. What is your soil mix?
6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?
7. What is the pH of your water?
8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio?
9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?
10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
11. How close are your lights to the plants?
12. What size is your grow space in square feet?
13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
14. What is the pH of the soil?
15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?

From how your talking i assume your in coco/pearlite ya? Did ya buffer it? Did you rock proper ammounts of Ca Mg when using RO?

Early veg, we give them some mychorrizae, water and soil mix is 40% Happy Frog 40% American Farmer Rogue Soil with 10% of perlite added ontop of that already present in the soil. Normally we don't feed until their runoff starts showing signs of low levels of nutrients. Once they get low enough we'll feed 1.2 - 1.4 early veg with Lotus grow, and (we used to use the well water) H2O ran through our RO filter. We are currently a month in on the plants I posted above maybe longer, so it could be nutrient deficiencies we are seeing mixed with a disease possibly.

We lost power in the last storm that hit the northeast, 3 days at first, we ran humidifiers and some work lights but we've already found a few hermies (nothing to stress about, maybe 1 seed on 2-3 plants) and we definitely got lucky with the mildew we were fighting all season, only had to toss 2 plants so far.

15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? We've dealt with Root Aphids in the past but cleaned out the facility and haven't seen any signs of them in over 30 days now. We do pull plants out of their pots to inspect the roots weekly.

Did you rock proper ammounts of Ca Mg when using RO? I'm not aware of any Ca Mg being added to the feed schedule during Veg, I am not the head grower but I will find out.

Your having a slurry of problems caused mainly by being root bound but also by massively flushing out all the nutrition in the nice expensive potting soil you have bought turning your media into pretty much coco/peat and perlite. Plants get so root bound that the media has issues absorbing the water, you defiantly should be watering twice daily. Once root bound plants in pretty much flushed out coco peat pearlite get dry they lock out pretty easily, if you ask me most of fox farms and roots are just coco pearlite and should be treated as so after they burn thru the dry amendments.....Once you get locked out plants that do not want to up take water OR food you get tons of def problems when theres food, and never get enough water.....

In pots that small, after flushing you should probably be feeding every other watering, and if your using RO you should buffer with cal mag. i would switch back to well water. Few solutions but first...
Why flush your organic soil like crazy? IF your going to do that why not just buffer your own coco peat
How often do you feed?
Do you increase the amount of food?
Leds should be more around 70% RH and 70 degrees but really you should be running your VPDs with LEDs cuz the windows are so much smaller......

To fix these problems!!
TRANSPLANT!!! Water more often and defiantly feed more often and do NOT let your plants get dry and droop!!!
Should've been done 20in or so ago lol!! I go clones to 3x3 root in less than 12in then into 1g they get no more than 20in before they start getting pissed......gotta be ready man they dont wait
Feed them food in the new dirt, the old root ball will up take it and green up!!
Raise the light and turn down a lil if you can, the light is kinda like the gas pedal. If its close and at full power you need to treat your plants as such, food all the time, tons of air flow, proper hum. now on the other side of that if you want to ease off the gas you pull the light up turn it down and feed a lot less and your plants just chill. you gotta keep up with your light, these LEDS are not growing under bulbs dog we must adjust.....

Happy Frog is not coco coir, its soil and peat with myco and some perlite. It never dries out. Imo they are simply overwatered, the soil needs to dry or the roots drown and “lockout”.

@Madbud for the win! just saw the fox farms and thought FOFF! but!! peat moss totally dries out and becomes hella hydrophobic!! defiantly not as bad or as fast as coco, and doesn't lockout like coco. happy frog is muchh better than the good ol FOFF!!!!. but 2-4ft plants in 1gal? the leaf curl looks like over watering but could it just be because the soil doesn't uptake the water due to the concentration of roots, so then when you water its "over waterin" causing leaf drooping?

Just rub / mix onto top plant soil.

I use a 3 to 1 soil To coco mix, then add more of the powder fertilizer as needed.

I'm not nearly as experienced as all these other people, but 1.2-1.4 ec is really low for plants that are 4 weeks old. I would nute up to 1.5 and then add cal-mag enough to take you to 1.7-1.9 or even 2.0.

Took a minute to check your profile Key, your August grow with fungus gnats and root aphids was overwatered too. Aquaman gave you good advice on proper watering then.
