I need help!! I'm losing sleep, I'm tossing and turning at night trying to figure out which water is the best for my weed plants? Do I collect rain water and only use rain water? Or do i use tap water? Or should I use bottled mineral water like Fiji water? I know ph is very important but I don't have the tools to check the ph of water I'll be using so can someone please tell me what the safest and best option is for me since I don't have a ph tester? I live in Fiji and we don't have big hardware stores here.. and the wild weed I was given is unusual!! It's only a month old and I can tell it's a female already.. it already has the hairs and it's still very small!! That's not normal right?

Buy a tds meter and a ph pen, if your tap water is less than 250ppm then you can use it after it sits out for 24 hours. Do not use bottled water unless its distilled water in the jug, fiji type waters usually have salts and minerals added for taste which might not be good for plants.

No.. I think he lives *in* Fiji.

If you're in Fiji (lucky you! I want to get a job with Walt Smith and grow out corals) then I say go with rainwater, mixed partly with tap. No more than half tap.

Also, check this out. You can use a wee bit of seawater.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18393430

I use a product that's sea minerals with a good bit of the salt removed, and I'll never stop because of how vastly it's improved all my gardening. A wee bit (10%) is all you need.

Welcome to the farm!

Once your rainwater filters through the volcanic rock im told its some of the best in the world! artesian types that you could access imho should be top's for your plants! I drink your fiji water actually!

^^^^ i always knew salt water was theraputic!

I saved up a bunch of snow water.. 3 full totes at 6.3 but I think I'd invest in an RO. Only bottled water you should use is distilled.. which you can get at a Walmart, Walgreens, cvs, etc.. places to fill up 5 gal jugs. PH your tap. A "cheap" RO would prolly be ideal.

Hey that's cool, yeah I heard Fiji water was one of the best, that's why I thought it would be good on my plants but I'm guessing the salts aren't good for the growth of the weed.

Hey I can't really find those RO filters and ph testers here in Fiji so it comes down to 3 candidates, rain water, distilled water, or Fiji water. What do you think is my best option out of the 3?

Oh yeah you will love Fiji, great chilled out lifestyle but the weed isn't that good because people don't really know how to dry and cure properly. And they don't care about strains and stuff, they just plant weed and leave it. Sometimes you'll get really good weed but not all the time.

So do you recommend getting some sea water and mixing it with rain water?

Ok I don't have acces to Ph testers or tds meters. So if you had to choose out the three options I have what would it be? Rain water, distilled water or some type of mineral water?

You can buy the meters on eBay very cheap and really a tool you need to get it right but a 50/50 mix of rain and tap should be ok .

I'm lucky my water sorce is fresh Moutain stream water ph 6.3 to 6.5 .

I spent $5.99 and got a ph and tds meter combo in a cheap ass Irish man as long as you keep them clean and calibrated they will last for ages .

I have pH meter for water and a ph soil stick.. but run all organic anyway.. so I don't worry so much about my medium as much as the water I feed with. Check out my vortex momma. Just transplanted from 1 gal to 3 gal and fed her a bit..

I would keep two containers. One for just rainwater, and one to mix rain with seawater. No more than 10% seawater. If you see the plants having problems with the plain rainwater, add tap, starting at 10%. Municipalities have to add products in to preserve the delivery pipes, and that helps keep the pH buffered in a particular range. You're going to watch for leaf twisting, crinkling or a crepey appearance. Like they're kinda folded or puckered. If you see that, you know pH is out of preferred range.

Do you actually have access to Amazon and eBay out there in Fiji? Seems to me it would be awfully hard to do, given location and all. I think some posters here may have missed your location and mixed that up with the bottled water called Fiji.
