What Amp fuse would I need for my setup I am finishing up?

I have 6 Lumatek 600w ballasts. (2.75 amp each?)
Soon I will add 4 1000w ballasts. (4.5 amp each?)
Both these will run on a 240 line I am having installed.
I will also have fans, pumps, and probably a dehumidifier.

The electrician asked me how many amps my gear will use.
I do not know.
He said a 30amp double poll fuse should be good.

I that enough?

Thanks.

Continuous load of a circuit should not exceed 80% of maximum.

15A x 120V = 1800W
80% of 1800W = 1440W

15A x 220V = 3300W
80% of 3300W = 2640W

20A x 120V = 2400W
80% of 2400W = 1920W

20A x 220V = 4400W
80% of 4400W = 3520W

Cheers

The 10 lights you mention your going to use add up to 33.5 amps. You can only run up to 80% of a breaker size to be safe. The lights alone are more then 30 amps. For the lights I would have a 40 amp put in. The for the other stuff I would have a separate 20 amp/110v (if that's what it uses) for the dehum. And then another 20 amp/110v for the fans and pumps.

your over 30 amps just in lights. if the dbl poll will give you 60 amps then you are good. you only want to use about 75%-85% of what you have available to be safe. also at some point you may want to upgrade your 600 watt lights to 1ks. i would go with 50- 60 amps just for lights. and then the rest of the equipment you will run on 120 through your regular power outlets or something you install. your A/C is gonna be any were from 7.5 amps - 12.5 amps. air cooling that many lights will need at least 2 fans my 760 cfm is around 2 amps.

yeah again if possible i would go with 50-60 amps just for your lights

The draw of the ten luminares is , 34.5 amps.( {34.5 x 125% = 43 amps.} for a continuous load) you should go to 50-60 amp. 2 pole 220 v.(and apropriate size wire ), then two 20 amp. single pole circiuts(110 v. ). A 30 amp 2 pole gives you 30 amps at 220 v.,you don't add the 30 amps. together

Thanks for the help everyone.

I should have mentioned it is 2 rooms - side by side.
I think they already have at least 1 breaker (120) running to them. They were 2 offices before. I will use this feed for fans, pumps, ect...

Back to the breaker - when he said a "30 amp double poll (pole?)" - Does that actually mean it is 2x30 = 60amp?
Or is Double Pole a way of wording 240? I am trying to get him to do this without explaining what is actually going into the room.

AC is on another 30a breaker and already installed before I got there. I will look for a 220 DeHumidifier.

Thanks again.

Yes double pole indicates that it is 220. It is only 30 amps not 60 amps.

Fire your electrician.

Get a 60 amp fuse and wire in there. you have to do both. If you run 60 amps thru standard wire, you will burn your shit down. Get some 6-3 romex...

He does not want to fit new wire, but it has to be done. Its just work..

Lost,
The electrician is a friend who I don't want to tell what it is for.
So - I told him it was for my music gear and he figured 30 amp would be plenty. He asked me how many amps I needed and I didn't know at the time. I do now.

Now I know what to tell him it is that I need.
a 50 amp run or 2 30 amp runs.

Thanks.

I've just gotta say that all you folks who answered = AMAZING.

Thanks for your help everyone.
It's hard to ask the electrician too many questions without letting him know what it's actually for.

Thanks.
