Hey everyone, rookie grower here.im looking to upgrade my LED light for my next grow. I'm growing indoors in soil. My tent is 36×36×72 inches.i don't want a light that I have to run at 100% I use a light meter to dial it in,but even coverage is what I'm looking for,my current light is all over the place, the center of the tent has plenty of light but decreases drastically everywhere else. I'm not rich, but I don't want to buy trash either. I would love to hear some suggestions!!

I run a HLG 650R in my 3' x 3' x 8' Gorilla w/UV added. And a HLG 100 V2 for seedling use.

Setup

650R

Acinfinty has really nice stuff. It is nice to be able to control my light fans humidifier heater all from the same controller. They have an ion frame that fits the 3x3.

I recommend that one, too. I have a similar model in my 2x2 tent. The driver for the one I have can be mounted outside the tent, which can be a useful feature because they can be hot. It's good to get a square light for a square tent.

This will probably turn into a Ford, Chevy, Dodge thread, but, I have been very happy with HLG. I’d look at a 300w to 350w, also, look at their refurbished stuff, you get a pretty decent discount, same great customer service. I’ve been running a refurbished 550 watt for 4-5 years without a hiccup.

for a 3x3 you'll find 300W to 500W LED.

models with more watt will usually offer a more even light coverage and light dispersion near tent border but you may not use them 100% close to the plants.

here a few of the most used and rather cheap led brand:

spider farmer, viparspectra, hlg, vivosun , ac infinity, mars hydro, lumatek

have a look at their officials web site and compare.

they all have their tweaks regarding the spectrum, led layout and whatever, but truth is when it come to comparing the end results with panel equivalent in power you won't see much difference.

( i'm with spider farmer, i like the simplicity of their fixtures and their sf2000 panel have the best dimension for my 2x3 )

Check out a store like hydrobuilder.com and browse through their lights. They have tons of brands and sizes. That will give you a good idea of the market for lights.

What herbal says is on the money. Between brands the most noticeable difference is par maps of light spread and heat dissipation.

I prefer bar lights with a removable driver like Nate mentioned that is a huge factor for heat in a tent and removing it is smart.

i always wonder how accurate the par maps, spectrums graph are ...

What you need to look for in a light is Samsung lm301h diodes and be dimmable. The Samsung 288 diodes are good too. They just use more power. Hope that help you choose.

don’t do it yet!!…
stay with HID,..

I recently bought spiderfarmer se3000 for my 3'x4'x6' tent and so far it's doing pretty good. It has a dimmer. Thier recommended height is kinda off. It seemed to burn my plants at 6 to 8" away.

Most lights are compareable to each other.
There so much more room for improvement else where. Fert, lst etc....
I have hlg 100
Spider farmer sf1000
In 2x4x5
Hlg blackbird 600 watt
In 4x4X6.5
All good lights. I went with hlg to support my country.

Look to buy everything on black friday/ cyber monday or 4/20. Dont forget to ask for coupons the week before. Usually thru contact us or something similar.

Fucker looked brand new straight out of the box.

Plant is a clone was 5" under the sf1000 set at 20% the last few weeks
