What is a good light?

I got this light ^^^ through Amazon Vine and I gotta say, it's definitely not a bad light. At all. I get ~250 PAR with it set at 25% and approximately 32 inches from canopy. I haven't used it for flowering, yet, but as far as Veg goes, it's a fuckin beast! Very impressed with it.

I'm from the old school, and have grown with MH/HPS nearly my entire life, and this is the first LED I have used that meets or exceeds the output I got from those old MH/HPS lights. With not even 1/4 of the power consumption or heat dissipation.

Looking forward to cranking her up, soon. As I said 25% is all I've needed so far.

don’t do it yet!!…
stay with HID,..
Why? I have a bunch of hps and Mh lights, just a few bulbs equals cost of a whole led light, and the heat and expense of running the lights to me are negatives.

The buds were great, I have no experience with led but trying to save money and also when I go on vacation the fear of a fire worried me. Someone growing near me burnt down there house with a grow light.

Not knocking your opinion but would like to know the reason

Yeah, after seeing for myself the performance of modern LED grow lights, I'm a believer. My electric bill is a LOT less these days. The amount of energy it takes to grow with MH/HPS is insane. It's not only the light but the heat and running extra AC just to keep the room comfortable.. And with the rising cost of electricity, if you can invest in a good LED, I would highly recommend it. I don't like making mortgage-level payments to my power company 🤣

I mean don't get me wrong I love a good DE grow lamp but they're just not economical right now unless you live in a very cold climate they work better than most space heaters 🤣

Cold is exactly why I'll be using my HID's 8 - 9 months out of the year, but next summer I'm switching to an LED as well, one with a removable ballast that I can place outside of the tent. This thread has been a gold mine of information so far!

I'm soooo glad the sod/hid/mh days are over. Use to wait until the farm and ranch stores had sales on barn and farm lighting. We thought in the old days we had died and went to heaven when you could find 250w sodium lights on sale for under 30 bucks. But then you had to figure out how to hide/justifie/covertly work with your electric usage. Because the power company would see a huge spike in your electric draw and they would turn you over to the pigs. I'm so glad all that crap is over.

For my 2'x4' tent I use the AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO3, it's been a phenomenal light for me so far.

For your 3'x3' they have the EVO4 model. It uses top of the line Samsung LM301H diodes and puts out 300W. AC Infinity sells this model directly for $349

I pair all of my AC Infinity gear with the AC Infinity Controller 69 PRO+, makes keeping tabs on my grow and adjusting all my gear via wifi/bluetooth a breeze.

here a few of the most used and rather cheap led brand:

spider farmer, viparspectra, hlg, vivosun , ac infinity, mars hydro, lumatek
i forgot to mention phlizon, they also have some quality rather cheap fixtures

also i would avoid mars hydro older models, it's not uncommon some people got some electrical issues with them.
