What is considered the best medium

What medium do you use to drop into the UC? Im not talking hydroton etc, but prior to growing in the uc, do you use rockwool?

What other options do you use and what do you see as the pros and cons for each?

I like oasis cubes. They are neutral ph and have a lil bit of nutes infused into them.

I have placed rapid rooters in lava rock without any issues or deterioration of material, and the same with rockwool except it was placed in hydroton, and the same no issues thus far.
I also have vegged my clones straight from aerocloner, carefully placing them in 5" netpots of hydroton, and vegging them on a 2x2 tray, then into a larger 6"/8"/10" netpot to finish, no rockwool/rooters or anything just plain old healthy roots and no issues here either.
