What is the best way to mix your ground soil without killing all of your worms?

After harvest I want to mix some compost and dry nutrients into the top 2'-2 1/2' of ground soil buy I don't want to kill all of my friends???

Thoughts?

Garden fork or small fork of some kind .

Can also just layer on top, let the rain and the worms mix it in for you over time.

Fyi, worms have 8 hearts, cut one in half, most likely you will end up with two worms.

roto tiller, rear tined, don't destroy the soil's integrity by pulverizing. chopping worms results in more worms and remember, most worms are an introduced invasive species. look it up . . .
