Good info to know. I always heard a watt of LED produced less heat than a watt of HID. LOL maybe I should just stfu and quit trying to fix shit that ain't broke. The garden provides plenty as is.
The problem is weed may not be addictive, but growing it is.

To my understanding, its 150w output. What % of that is usable light and how much of that is dissipated as heat is the difference. Where a HPS might be closer to 60%par/40%heat and LED will be more like 85-90%par/10-15%heat
So you can do the maths from there

Yeah my estimate was on the safe side. I always like to error on the side of caution. Especially with someone else's money.

It's been reported as high as 50% more efficient I think that may be stretched a bit so I use 35-40% more efficient.which is prob a bit low but more than safe to say.

I’m growing again after a 25 year hiatus. After tons of research, I went with HLG. My buddy is BLOWN away by how well I’m doing, but the light is doing the work.

So if I ran a 150 hps side by side with the hlg 135 would it not work because one side would either be too hot or cold?

It's definitely possible! You'll have to fool around with air circulation etc... to get the temps even, but both the hps and led are very easy to manage in that sense. With LED, the heat comes from the driver. Mine gets to about 110, tops. A strong fart can deal with that trust me lol

I can touch 110 degree driver, I can't touch a hps bulb. That's why it surprised me to learn that each system produces the same heat per watt. I'll probably try the hlg 135. Maybe I can get an extra month or so growin.

I probably could have explained it better. I was kinda trying to keep it simple but now that I reread it what I said is wrong

like was stated by @Mikelej14 there is efficacy of that watt. You need more watts of HPS to produce the same light because it's less efficient. I'm not quite sure what I was thinking
