So a friend of mine gifted me a plant about a month ago that had already begun to start flowering. I continued to water the plant and now I’m not sure of the next step. Mind you, I am growing for the first time and I have a few plants that I’m working on for the October harvest so this one is way ahead of where I’m at.

First of all, is this a good friend ? kidding. If I were you I would keep the plant, think of it as an opportunity to learn something new, increase your knowledge, gain experience.

As someone pointed out earlier, you may wish to amend the soil before you do anything ... when growing outdoors, it's all about soil & worms.

Regeneration: technique of using mature plants, whose ripened buds have been harvested, to produce a second harvest, can be indoors or out, mostly out. (ref. Ed Rosenthal )

How to ... outdoors : when harvesting the plant, leave parts of some branches, leaves, small buds, intact. Next you want to mimic the same light regimen that plants like during veg, to regenerate .... indoors, just leave the lights on all the time, outdoors, night cycle interruption does the trick.

Plants will start regenerate, initially, odd shaped leaves, in unusual places, is pretty much common place. I have found these plants to be more vigorous/hardy than most. End result, in my case, quality of regenerated plant vs. quality of non-regenerated plant of same strain was not noticeable to those in my circle.

Hope this helps. Have fun and happy growing.

My friend gave me the plant just as is! I have 4 other plants I'm growing with proper soil. I honestly don't know much about this particular plant. I don't know how it started or what strain it is or anything about it really. It's like me giving you a car and leaving without you even know if the damn thing runs or not haha
Believe me I thought it was weird when he brought the plant over and I saw that it had been growing in dirt.

Just trying to figure out what I should do moving forward.

So should this plant have already been harvested? That would make sense to me from what I've read online as far as re-vegging goes.

with not knowing it’s history looks like it’s started to flower some what but the light cycle is now longer daylight hr so it’s doing what any plant would do .Do you know how to take cuttings to clone it or if it’s giving you grief just cull the plant and grow on with your other stock . Regards Od .

Not necessarily. A plant can reveg at any point in flowering. It may have not been close to harvest.

I'm definitely going to hang out to the plant and learn as much as I can about it. I'm debating on harvesting what I can before the re-vegging really takes over. any suggestions?

The reveg has already happened. There really isnt buds truly left and after it dries it wont amount to anything at all.

Plus It doesnt look like it was even close to being ready to harvest. You might not even catch a buz at all. But hey it's your plant ...
